Presidential Physical Fitness Challenge

24 pax gathered for YHC’s Conspiracy VQ. I’d like to think we had such a great numbers due to the Q. However I think it’s more likely the higher numbers were in support of Hazer’s return; a much better cause.
This morning’s workout was a throwback to middle school PE class with the presidential physical fitness challenge. The challenge was to accomplish the standard set for a 17-year-old male.
13 pull ups
Sit and reach 7 inches past your heels
30 foot shuttle run in under 8.7 seconds
55 sit ups in a minute
1 mile run in under 6:06
Warm-o-Rama:
1 lap around the track
20 SSH IC
10 AV IC
20 IST IC
20 Mt Climbers IC
20 Merkins
The challenge:
Partner up and head to the pullup bars. 13 pull-ups, partner assist as needed.
Take turns attempting to sit and reach past your heels while the group stretched out with Whirlys and a clap
Mosey to field in the track shuttle run 30 feet done and back twice
Partner up. Partner 1 planks on feet of partner 2 who does 55 sit-ups. Switch.
1 lap(1/4 of mile run)
Repeat and try to improve on round one. This time with 2 laps(1/2 mile to complete 1 mile around track including warm up lap)
1 minute of stretching. No time for Mary.
Done.

Solid looking Q, Chisel. That 6:06 mile was something I could do at 17; now that’s a big fat nope. Will have to try this on my own. Sorry to miss it.

Thanks for leading this AM Chisel. Ingenious and organized. Sorry I can’t do everything I could when I was 17, but glad I choose not to do many things I did when I was 17.

Nice Q Chisel. I don’t usually venture this far on a Wednesday but today it was work the extra mileage. Glazer was a fine partner of sufficient size and stamina – in other words a trade in was not necessary – not that trading is allowed or customary but it would have made for some good chatter. Had to cheat on the planks because those are a bit testy after he 55 WWII situps – ouch. Pull-ups… Hated them in High School – nothing has changed (runner – albeit older and slower – arms) Way to keep a large group moving. Drawn up and delivered like the pro you are. Giddy up.
