Old Friends Revisited @ Redline
QIC: Balco
Date: 10/10/17
PAX: Mr. Hand, Glazer, Poncho, Winklevoss, The Vig, Peacemaker, Whirly, Manscape, Burlap, Valdez, Fingers
The Dashpax have a tendency to like to run hills prior to BRR but not so much after. Some of the WS pax are training for various marathons and hill work is vital to any successful training program. It had been awhile since YHC visited the triplets so when asked to Q Redline the other day I thought today was a perfect time. We ran around in circles last week so this week we ran up and down and up and down and….
We began with a warmup counter-clockwise around the YMCA to end at base of the Intimidator. We mixed in some HK, BK, AC, Ks.
Simple instructions were given. Run up at 5K intensity (NOT speed) for 45 seconds then back down at same intensity. Expectation would be that all pax would end up at bottom of hill at same time. Repeato for total of 5 trips without recovery.
Recovery mosey eventually to base of Brookstown.
Same idea except 60 seconds x 5
Recovery mosey to base of Pilot View. Same idea except 90 seconds x 3. Just enough time left for jailbreak up Pilot view to first intersection then turn right and mosey back home.

NMM
- We covered +/-4 miles today with possibly 700 ft of gain
- The Vig, Mr Hand, and Wink will be much better prepared than all other marathoners thanks to their effort today.
- Tclaps to Glazer and The Vig for EC prior to some hills
- Despite HC from @Cheerio and @TotalRecall neither of them were there today.
- The Vig does not wake up unless he is going to run at least 5 miles
- Mongoose was not there

Solid beat down Balco! What Pax doesn’t love runnnig up a hill?
Burlap
Obligatory reference to @Mongoose. BB is approved.
(This was a hot mess. My seat belt has still not dried out. The last run up PV to the top was more than 90 seconds. 10k effort up PV turned into try-to-keep-your-feet-moving.)

I extended the final segment an extra 10 seconds to give the PAX a boost in morale (albeit on false pretenses) as they were able to run farther than the previous segment. I figured someone might be out there with a perfect internal clock that would call me out for it. Thanks for keeping me honest.

My timeline:
5:30- BALCO is a reasonable enough guy, this shouldn’t be too bad
5:45- I’ll be glad when we’re done with the hills and move to the track
6:00- What the hell are we doing?
6:15- Man, that sucked hard- glad I came
My favorite dialogue (aka MC) this morning:
Pax: This is Redline, not First Gear
BALCO: At First Gear, you run the same hill over and over; we’re running three hills BOOM!
