Running & Gunning @ Hathaway (Hideaway)
QIC: Zuckerberg
Date: 10/23/2017
PAX: Bueller? (WB); Burlap (WD); Mongoose; VanPelt; Juicebox; Wiki; Cobra; Bluto; Mutton; Bout Time; Sasha; Zuckerberg (QIC)
12 (“ideal”) pax found their way to Hathaway Park for some running-and-gunning on a slightly more-humid-than-expected morning.
Upon arriving, there were a lot of “I didn’t even know this park was here” type comments. Some of those with younger 2.0s know it well. Nonetheless, definitely worth keeping on the #RnG rotation.
The Running-and-Gunning went a little something like this…
Da Route (~3.4 miles):
- S onto Royalton
- L onto Keating
- L onto Kinnamon
- L onto Lynn
- R onto Windsor
- L onto Westview
- L onto Country Club
- L onto Mayfield
- L onto Anita
- TAKE IT TO THE HOUSE!!!
Da Tabata: (30 secs on; 10 secs rest)
Exercises included…
- Merkins
- Low flutter
- Right leg press/ups
- Irkins
- Left leg press/ups
- Derkins
- Dips
COT/BOM: YHC took the pax out, giving thanks and praise to Him for the men he has surrounded me with, and asked for guidance that we can reach others with F3, and wisdom to be better men in other aspects of our lives.
- Prayer request for family friends of @Mutton’s… child dealing with very severe depression…
NMM:
- Always an honor to be among the pax of F3WS and an honor to lead.
- Seems that Hathaway Park is a not-so-frequented launch spot for the pax. It really is a great location to launch a run and/or to have a workout, and just a great park. Definitely a keeper for the #RnG rotation.
- A bit muggy out this morning – especially for this time of year.
- Tabata seemed to be working its magic on the pax… lots of groaning.
- The midway whistle (on the tabata app) was certainly throwing the pax off – or at least giving them a reason to rest for a second as they said for the 7th time… “…that whistle keeps messing with me!“
- Background tunes were courtesy of ‘Judah & the Lion’ Pandora radio station (the free version, thus the commercials) where we heard such artists as: Judah & the Lion; The Lumineers; Of Monsters and Men; Mumford & Sons; James Bay.
- A few pax (@Bueller?, @Burlap, @Mongoose, and YHC) got in a little (2.5 – 3.2 mile) EC prior to the official #RnG launch – totaling > 6.6 miles for some.
- Large shelter at Hathaway allowed the pax to (a) get out of the drizzle, and (b) use the benches for exercises.
- The acoustics under the shelter, however, made YHC’s recording sound extremely mumbled… so if YHC missed something, “kobains”.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
- The MEGA (2.0) – G’boro – This Saturday, 10/28 – Clown car launching from First Pres ~ 0600

Great route. YHC was wiped out from keeping up with the three amigos for the first half mile of the EC. So my Run was not well gunned.
Also, apparently a couple of dudes fell and scraped body parts. Didn’t notice til I got to work and saw bandaids on BoutTime’s hands.

Thanks Zuck. That pavement on Lynn has, I believe, taken out Lemming (aka Bubblewrap,) ’bout time, Bluto and YHC. I skimmed it unscathed this AM but the last time I found myself staring up from the ground at Bluto! Still a good route, I might look around for an extra traffic cone for next time. JB

I definitely had a misstep at some point too… think it also may have been on Lynn.
It’s all good though… all part of the lesson about getting up when you get knocked down.
I’ll never forget when I fell hard on Petree when I was Q’ing Run-N-Gun about a year ago. Running is rough stuff, and clearly very physical.
Nonetheless, great job by all – especially those who ‘ate it’ and still “gunned”!
