It was a dark and stormy morning…well not too stormy but the rain which YHC had hoped would hold off was a steady drizzle.  However, it did not deter 5 other pax from showing up at the appointed time and location – several regulars and one FNG that YHC was accused of kidnapping to bring him out on such a day for his first post.  YHC had also tried a few direct marketing efforts and thought a few more pax might take the bait.  After a quick round of SSHs there were no other pax so off on the trail we ran.

We stopped at Shelter 1 for the first of 3 rounds of bench assisted exercises.  Stepups R/L, irkins, derkins, box jumps and dips in varying numbers and cadences.  After each round we paired off and ran the path in opposite directions and upon meeting partner we performed 10 merkins 20 LBCs and 30 squats.  We regrouped after each lap in the shelter and did it all over again.

We finished our shelter area work with one round of sumo drill and headed back down the trail to the parking lot for Mary.

Since we were already wet the pax did not mind at all getting down on the pavement for low flutters, Freddie Mercurys, Rain Angels and Dynamic Supermans – well for that one there was some grumbling.

• Took a while for the MC to warm up today but it got going well as the rain kept everyone interested
• Huckleberry had experienced a version of this workout with YHC in November.  He was strong as Larry Bird of the day
• Starfish needs some oil on his Irkin
• Touch Me Not and Fingers powered through rain and work – #strongsilenttypes
• YHC had worked on my FNG of the day for some time.  He is a friend from church and a neighbor so an offer of a ride was impossible for him to refuse.  Garbage (fka Andy Clifton) was named by naming master Starfish who used his encyclopedic music knowledge to come up with 2 choices related to our rainy circumstances.  MacArthur Park (Someone Left a Cake out in the rain) vs Only Happy When it Rains by 90s grunge/pop ( if there is such a genre) Garbage.  Garbage was the overwhelming choice.  YHC of course had never heard this song. #expandingmusicalhorizons. • Fingers gave us the interesting trivia that MacArthur Park was originally recorded by Richard Harris – yes the actor.  Makes the lyrics seem even worse and a little creepy.  #thethingsyoulearnatf3
