During the day yesterday, there was some confusion as to who had the Q, YHC or Bluto. As we patiently waited for the esteemed site Q (Cobra) to weigh in, Bluto stepped aside to allow today’s punishment to be administered by YHC.
As the Pax began to arrive, they were greeted by some excellent intro music. YHC explained that one of the artists in today’s playlist used it as their intro music.
As the final notes faded into the dark, we began:
Warm-o-rama
SSH, merkins, arm swirly things (forward and reverse), and squats – all x 15, all IC.
Time for some fun.
THE THANG
This would be the first Q in which YHC would recycle a previous plan. Some point last year, the crew at Mayhem was subjected to this as well. Mongoose was not pleased at all with it, which means it was great.
The best way to describe this would be “Dora with Suicides.”
Partner up. Partner 1 stays and performs AMRAP of the called exercise. Partner 2 performs suicide runs to the flashlights set out in the parking lot. Flapjack until the called number of reps is reached. Plank for the 6.
The following exercises were performed, all with kettle bells:
Skull Crushers x 50
Everyone runs a suicide
Curls x 100
Everyone runs a suicide
Bent over rows x 150
Everyone runs a suicide
Overhead Press x 200
Everyone runs a suicide
LBCs x 250
Everyone runs a suicide
Squats x 300
Everyone runs a suicide
Had about two extra minutes before Mary, so we did: curls x 30 IC
MARY
A whole bunch of exercises: cross country abs, mutton crunches, H2H, low flutter, low dolly, maybe more. Mostly IC, mostly x 12.

Great turnout for today’s workout. Appreciate everyone coming out.
Saw ToeTag briefly, as he must have completed an EC, but had to go to work.
Appreciate the strong partner work from Zuckerberg and Interference!
YHC is pretty sure some of the Pax had no clue who Bob Dylan is…for shame.
Tuco inquired as to whether Jimmy Buffet would be on the list. No. No. No, and No.
Choctaw Bingo was a real crowd pleaser, especially the twisted sister part. As James says, that’s the good part.
Announcements/prayer requests
Look for lunch bunch – Goofy looking for substi-Q
Prayers for family of Reagan High School staff member who passed away at age 42.
Prayers for YHC’s 2.0, as she and classmates head to China on Friday for 10 days.
YHC took us out.
Cobra – thanks for the keys. I handed them off to Bluto. He should have them. I think.
Playlist:
“The Ecstasy of Gold” – Metallica takes the stage to this song from “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.”
“All Along the Watchtower” – Bob Dylan. YHC means…Bob Dylan. That should be enough. For all you Hates, and younger, look him up. YHC saw him in the early 1990’s, with Tracy Chapman as an opening act. Good stuff from one of the best.
“Folsom Prison Blues” – Johnny Cash. While not a huge Cash fan, YHC saw him at a state or county fair sometime in the late 1980’s. Plus, he kinda resembles YHC’s grandfather, which is cool.
“I Will Follow” – U2. YHC saw them on the Joshua Tree tour in either 1987 or 1988. BoDeans opened for them. Same week that YHC saw Tesla and Def Leppard. Highlight of show was “Bad.”
“Cant Hardly Wait” – The Replacements. Legendary Minneapolis alt rock group. Saw them when they opened up for Tom Petty during his “Full Moon Fever” tour. The ‘Mats were infamous for their drinking. They were clearly drunk during the show. This was such a regular occurrence during the tour, it is rumored that Petty fired them as a result.
“Drown” – Son Volt. This Jay Ferrar led band was a by-product of the breakup of legendary country alt rockers Uncle Tupelo. Cats Cradle was where YHC saw them a couple years ago.
“Creeping Death” – Metallica. Enough said. YHCs ears are still ringing from this Dayton, Ohio show from the “And Justice for All” tour in 1988/89. Epic.
“Monday” – Wilco. Jeff Tweedy leads this revolutionary band. The second half of Uncle Tupelo, they continue to push the envelope. Never boring. Saw in Raleigh maybe 5 years ago. Nick Lowe opened.
“Wreck Me” – Tom Petty. See notes from The Replacements. Feel privileged that YHC saw him in concert.
“Small Town” – John Mellencamp. On YHCs Mt Rushmore of all time favorite artists. Have seen the “Little Bastard” five times. Best experience was in maybe 1998/99 when he played in numerous public parks throughout Midwest cities. He made a stop in Detroit. Was fantastic. Also saw him perform National Anthem and halftime show on Thanksgiving day game between Lions and Colts. Manning threw for 6 TDs.
“Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting” – Elton John. Fantastic song writer and high energy performer. Saw him at the Palace in metro Detroit in he late 1990’s
“Choctaw Bingo” – James McMurtry. YHC could write volumes about James. Have had the pleasure of seeing him 9 times and counting. Locations include Charlotte, Raleigh, Asheville, and Winston-Salem. No way to pick a favorite song from perhaps the best song writer in the business. Choctaw Bingo talk has been described as the true National Anthem of our country.
