Negative Nellie and some Self Reflection

Way back in 2014 and 2015, when the Pax was making workout choices based on who the Q is, I used to be a draw. On a cool Spring morning, I could count on 20+ Pax flocking to my workout, posting with a bit of trepidation about what mean old Mongoose had in store for them. Today, only 11 Pax made that choice and posted to Mayhem instead of B&W (12, with Van Gogh) and Conspiracy (14, with Snooki). And 2 of the 11 probably only posted because I pulled into their driveways and shined my bright lights on their house until they came out.
I haven’t been asked to Q very frequently lately at Mayhem. Given that, I have done a little self reflection. OK, very little. I mean, it’s 0700 so how much could I really have done. Plus, come on. Would I really spend a lot of time on that?
But, I did start to wonder during the workout: Am I losing my touch? Have I not provided sufficient workouts over the past few years? Is Mayhem losing its luster? Have I taken #fastholementality too far? Have you not been entertained?
My new approach will be to make each workout that I Q harder than the last. Nobody has thrown up, cried, passed out, or quit early at Mayhem in a long time. I’m not saying everything needs to be like Speed Trap, but things must change. We didn’t quite start today, but it wasn’t too fun. Here’s what we did:
Mosey to rock pile for warmarama: SSH, IW< merkins, Abe Vigoda, OH clap, high knees, butt kickers
Grab a rock:
Curls, OH press, chops, bent over rows, twists, swings, more curls
Mosey to soccer field
Series of activities: move 25 yards down, then bear crawl back. Broad jump burpee, lunge, frog jump, crab walk
Run a lap at 75% effort, meet back at goal line
Negative Nellie (since you all claim I am disgruntled)
Series of exercises focusing on the “negative” portion of the movement: Slerkins, Copperhead Squats, Carolina Sly Docks, “No”verhead claps, standing with scissors
Mosey back to parking lot
Mary: LBC, Slow leg lowering, penguin crunch, low slow flutter, mutton crunch, low dolly

Great job catching the witty one-liners and MC directed at the Q. I can almost picture Spamalot saying something lawyer-ly, Zima complaining you weren’t going fast enough, Touchmenot being nice to somebody, Red Eye liking this working out on MMR before it’s barely over, and DQ giving MC about “where are the sumo drills? When I Q, we do sumo drills. Did you know I used to be a wrassler?”

I was just trying to help a guy out! It’s been a minute since he’s been to Q school and he sadly noted he doesn’t Q that much, and all dash pax are aware of his love affair of the website (with our without slacks), so…. (besides, YHC was gasping for air at BnW, so this was first MC opportunity – other than comments about VG’s shorts)

In the storied history of Mongoose Q’s, while not the worst…this was still not enjoyable. Quick question, since when does he lead us to the rock pile? We usually ignore its existence when he Qs.
Appreciate Zima, Red Eye and Offsides circling back to pick up the 6.
