Continuous repeato adding 1 to the number of reps with each repeated cycle (16, 17, etc., will anyone get past 20?).
At 0610, make your way back to start point for a bit of Mary and COT.
Protractor Chess Press = lie on your back and raise straight legs together and hold 6 inches off ground; then perform air bench presses with both hands to full extension, to completion while keeping legs still at 6 inches throughout (courtesy: Spamalot).
Undertow Bench Rows = sit on end of a bench or planter with nothing under your legs but a bench or some support behind your back; lean back, put hands on bench behind you with legs extended forward, straight and together; with legs together, bring knees to your chest and then return to full extension; that is one repetition. The repeated motion works the abs and the whole core and feels something like a rowing motion (courtesy: Undertow).

NMM
- Pretty large crowd today for a WIB — location is key, and the weather cooperated.
- All got in five laps (15, 16, 17, 18, and 19) and most were in the middle of the sixth (20 reps) lap when it was time for Mary.
- FNG Francis stuck with the pack for a couple of rounds and figured out the exercises and forged ahead slightly, finishing the 6th round of 20 reps. Other typical fasties were not too far behind, including Offsides, SVP and Zima.
- YHC was glad that Buddy the Elf visited from Raleigh, and he was kind enough to hang back in the 6 with me.
- Everyone did at least 85 reps of every exercise and got in about 2 miles (anyone with GPS?) and some got in 105 reps of exercises depending on where they were at 0610.
- In case you ever need to know, Chopt takes early morning deliveries through the front door at about 0545, RiteAid is closing and moving prescriptions to a nearby Walgreen’s, Trader Joe’s employees get there about 0555, Dewey’s employees sneak in the back before 0600, Talbot’s opens when it damn well pleases, and McDonald’s drive-thru is quite active at 0545.
- The Pax was pleased to welcome former FNG Francis. Francis grew up in Augusta, GA, went to school at West Point, and is Army active duty for about two more weeks. We almost named him AWOL, but thankfully @Roosevelt remembered the scene in “Stripes” in which Psycho reveals his name as Francis Soyers and threatens to kill everyone, causing Sgt Hulka to say, “Lighten up, Francis.” Francis’ wife is an anesthesiology resident, and he is looking for employment. Keep your eyes and ears open.
- This ended up being a hard workout, as there were no rest periods and YHC could only get his breath back during the side squats. Even Zima looked a little tired. Silent peer pressure/unspoken competition along with the will to push oneself are powerful things.
Thanks for the keys, @Thistle. I hid them in a box of pink icing cake squares at Dewey’s.
