I doubt anyone else watched over the weekend via Facebook live feed of the GORUCK Selection, Class 020. But I did. And to say that it was inspirational might be an understatement. GORUCK Selection is a 48 hour endurance event that starts with a PT standard that must be met by the candidates before the real a$$-whipping even starts. 96 people signed up; 46 actually showed up. After the PT standards were finished, there were 20-something left. By hour 24, there were two candidates left. After hour 26 or 27, candidate 011 was the last man standing. At hour 48, candidate 011 finished GORUCK Selection. There was a lot of rucking, carrying heavy sh!t, and mind games played by the Cadre running the event. But candidate 011 (referred to as “One One” throughout the event) kept putting in the work. His body was thrashed, but he never quit. When he finished and the Cadre congratulated him on finishing, my “allergies” may have gone a bit haywire, if you catch my meaning. He was proof that the body will follow the mind – he was dialed in mentally for 48 hours and wouldn’t let his body quit on him. Again, one of the most inspirational things I’ve ever watched. By the way, candidate 011’s real name is Doug Scherwin.

So with that still fresh on the brain, this morning’s focus was putting in the work. Thanks to @Winklevoss, I re-introduced the Super 21 workout, which consisted of running to the far side of the rugby field, knock out a merkin, run back and knockout a WWII sit-up. Do that all the way up to 21 reps. The whole workout looked this this…

CoT:  YHC took us out

Announcements/Prayer Requests:

  • A breakfast supporting Samaritan Ministries this Thursday morning – still some seats to fill. Contact @CherryPie for details.
  • @CheeseSteak was thankful for all who posted this AM.  He was having a rough morning already, so being out with the PAX was a huge help for him.

NMM:

  • YHC’s Garmin watch was beeping “low battery” before the workout even started. Hence, @SwissMiss was designated as the backup time keeper. He agreed only if he could be mentioned in this backblast (your welcome, and thank you). By the way, I believe he has a birthday coming up…
  • @TrafficJam was visiting from Greenville, SC. Dude was getting after it today.
  • No #MC to speak of this AM. Not even a groan/moan of disapproval. PAX definitely put in the work this morning.
  • Reference @CheeseSteak giving thanks to the PAX because he was already having a tough morning – this is what this F3 thing is all about. As we are all well aware of, Life isn’t always blue skies and smiles. And it’s not about us (individually) – it’s about something bigger, and it’s about being there to pick someone up when they feel like they’re getting kicked to the ground (sometimes over, and over again). @Goofy coined it best:  #TheGuyNextToYou

Great job this morning, men.

Candidate 11 is a beast. Watched the last 90 minutes or so. Literally screaming at my phone for him to recite the creed verbatim. Both that it would have mattered. They would have made him drag his face up that hill againa and again. Unreal and definitely inspiring.
