Beastie Boys Beatdown
QIC: SGT Schultz
Date: April 11, 2019
PAX: Blue Light Special (WD), Buggy, Schneider, SGT Schultz, Sixty Minutes (WB), Sour Mash
6 PAX met on a pleasant Thursday morning at The Distillery, several of whom had already completed an EC run. After YHC set up my props around the parking lot, we got started on a quick warm-up.
WARMARAMA: A medley of SSHs, Hillbillies, Arm Swirly Things (forward and reverse), Seal Claps, Whirly’s with a Clap, and standing hamstring stretches.
THE THANG: YHC ordered the F3 workout card deck from the F3 Gear website several months ago. I had forgotten that I had it until I saw it in a drawer while I was looking for something else yesterday. I decided to utilize the deck as the anchor for a workout.
The beatdown consisted of 4 pain stations, arranged in a rough square in the church parking lot, with each corner of the square located approximately 40 yards away from the next one. Pre-positioned at each station was a light (to be able to see), 3 dice, and a stack of cards from one suite from the F3 workout deck, with each suite dedicated to exercises for a particular part of the body. (Hearts for cardio, Diamonds for Core, Spades for Legs and Clubs for chest/arms) Each card has a particular exercise (e.g. monkey humpers, wide arm merkins, WW2 situps, burpees, etc.)
We paired off into three buddy teams and had a shotgun start, one team per corner. We proceeded in a clockwise manner. At each pain station, draw a card from the deck and roll the dice. Perform the number of reps rolled (anywhere from 3 to 18), then mosey over to the next station. Continuous movement and exercise until 0615.
FINIS!
NMM:
- YHC learned a lot this morning about how Schneider’s and Sour Mash’s mom found and threw away Mash’s best porno mag, as well as some other visual aids back in his younger days.
- BBBC launches from the Lewisville town square
- Schneider has the Q at Purgatory on Saturday
- 60 Minutes is hosting a party at his house at 6pm next Friday (while the wife and kids are away, the mice will play!) (Bring your own beer and/or bourbon)
COT:
- Prayers for the victims of the gas explosion in Durham yesterday
- Prayers for the fire damage to the Mr. Barbecue restaurant yesterday and those whose livelihoods depend on that restaurant
- Prayers for all of those traveling over the Spring Break weekend — safe travels
- YHC took us out, praying to our Lord for the ability to exercise and have fun together, and to be HIS agents to spread his love and goodwill in this worl
MUSIC: Musical accompaniment was provided by The Beastie Boys’ album, License to Ill. Only Blue Light Special and YHC were teenagers when it came out, so we are the only true veterans of the fight for the right to party. Everyone else was in grade school or in 60 Minutes’ case, an infant (which he enjoyed rubbing in). Unbelievably deep and meaningful lyrics from this album.
THANKS FOR THE KEYS, SCHNEIDER!
