- Sour Mash was looking for Qs for #BBBC a few weeks ago and YHC gladly offered to fill in. Little did YHC realize it’d be the day after July 4th (the 5th, go figure), and YHC would struggle to get the routes out on time due to celebrating our country’s 243rd birthday! So they came out fairly late on the night before, and the Pre-balst was posted. After doing so, YHC would then go on to enjoy fireworks a bit too late, and induldge a few too many drinks the night before. This definitely made for a confusing morning, as YHC awoke thinking it was 2002 and he only lived 5 minutes from the AO, instead of 15 from my current residence. Rushing to leave, YHC was thinking on the drive in, “I got the routes out too late, no one is even going to be there… <sad face>”
- Fortunately, that was not true, and @SingingCowboy and @SgtSchultz were waiting and ready. @Fender then showed up right at 0530 and we were off. Just as we were passing Clemmons Elementary, @60minutes strolled up a side road and joined in as well! 5 might PAX marching forth.
- Just as YHC’s hangover was mostly worn off, @Fender and I broke off to push the pace a bit, right up until we found what might be one of the steeper neighborhood road hills in Clemmons on Brooklyn Drive. YHC remembers driving that hill as a teenager, and the hill didn’t disappoint. The plan was to continue marching forward and then turn back for our fellow PAX once circling back to Kinnamon around mile 3.
- Somewhat fortuitously, we ended up finding @SingingCowboy, @SgtzSchultz, and @60minutes marching down Kinnamon, perhaps having gotten lost, perhaps wanting to play in traffic, or perhaps trying to scare us, but YHC and @fender avoided a possible long search by looking to the right before turning around.
- The 5 of us then moseyed along back to stadium, as @SingingCowyboy and YHC broke away a bit, with @SgtzSchultz and @60minutes taking another side road back. Upon reaching the firestation, YHC realized @Fender was nowhere to be seen and got worried perhaps he was lost, so a circle back was made. No worries though, he was just around the bend, and we ALL then proceeded back to our launch point from the fire station (about .25 miles away).
- It was at this point @SingingCowboy kicked it into high gear and a near spring down Stoney. YHC at first thought to let him and @Fender dual, but couldn’t help myself. So as I struggled to catch up to them, fighting the soreness from yesterday’s beatdown started to kick in, it turned into an all out sprint to the finish, for which we were all out of breath by the end.
- In summary, mileages ranged from 3 – 4.5, and we were all better off come round 615.
CoT
- Prayers for @60Minutes friend whose 31 year old brother recently passed away.
- Prayers for @SgtSchultz as he heads on a church mission trip with his 18 year old daughter.
- Prayers for @Fender whose wife is 8 months pregnant with their 2.2!
- YHC took us out lifting up prayers!
- Fender also mentioned that he is sponsoring a table at an upcoming Benefits Breakfast for Arts For Life. The Program brings hands-on engagement in the arts to children and their families battling serious illnesses at Brenners. Their goal is to build awareness, and grow support from the community by communicating accurately their mission, volunteering, or even making financial contributions. Would like for PAX to register to attend, and enjoy a free brbeakfast together for a worthy cause! More info to come out over the next few weeks, but the link for info about the event is here: http://www.artsforlifenc.org/riseandshinews/
