No Sharpie Controversy at Flatline

5 Pax showed up for a @Goofy style #Flatline and hope that expectations were met.  The tunes and the comradery help make up for the lack of creativity of a beat down written in sharpie on cardboard. It went something like this.

Warm-up:  YHC heard that warm ups were not allowed, so we ran to the far wall and did some random warm up exercises OYO as I explained the beatdown, that went something like this:

The Thang – Kevorkians

Partner up. Line up on one side of the parking lot. P1 runs to the first line (marked with rope) while P2 does called exercise. Upon return FlapJack. Partners repeato to 2nd line, and finally a 3rd line about 50 yards away. When all have each completed the 3 distances/called exercise move on to the next exercise.

  • Penguin Crunch
  • Merkins
  • Squats
  • LBC’s
  • SSH
  • CDD
  • Alternating lunges
  • Plank Jacks
  • Wide Merkins
  • Jump Squat
  • Burpees
  • (we finished early so we started back up at the top and I think we made it back to Lunges, then for the final round we did Burpees again)

MARY: we did some Mutton Crunch and planked in the few minutes we had

COT: YHC took us out with prayers

  • Climb to Remember is tomorrow morning. See Twitter for details. A great opportunity to remember the sacrifices made on the anniversary of that fateful date in 2001.
  • The Vig is working on a Camel City Craft Crawl on October 13th, which is a 5 mile run stopping at some of downtown brewerys. Sounds like fun. Watch twitter and ask The Vig about it.
  • Prayers for @$5Footlong whose wedding is on the 21st and there is some stress in last minute planning
  • Prayers were asked for an unnamed Pax and friend of $5Dollar who is struggling mightily in an unhealthy marriage.

NMM

  • In full disclosure, YHC did use a sharpie to create and then modify the wienke.  I feel the need to tell you each this as the use of sharpies on cardboard were elevated to entirely new levels of fame and controversy this week. Well above my lowly use of them in the Gloom for a workout
  • I did this same beatdown, with some modification not long ago at VI and reprised it here. After examining maps and consulting experts, I accurately predicted  that no @WeFoCo F3 pax would venture downtown.
  • YHC is happy to report that no sounds were heard originating from @Toot’s direction this morning. Maybe he has chosen less beans in his diet. Or maybe it’s because I kept my distance. In either case, YHC was glad.
  • This workout was repetitive, but often those are the most challenging. Both the VI and todays group complained sufficiently, so I will take that as an accomplishment.

  • Often I am inspired by the men of F3 and this morning was no exception. Today, it was the vulnerability of Pax to share where they or their friends are truly struggling. We spend most of our lives as men trying to be the strong one, the accomplished one, the confident one. This morning there were a couple of times guys that let guard down –in a pre-workout discussion I had and also in the COT. It reminded me that real strength is allowing yourself to be vulnerable and revealing where you are struggling in a circle of guys you can trust.
  • Thanks to the men of F3 who make me better and constantly remind me what it is to be a real man and to be our authentic selves.
  • I am not always sure I deserve the relationships I have gained through F3, but I know that I am immensely grateful for each of you.
