Old Runners and Gunners; New Friends
QIC: Burlap
Date: 22 June 2020
PAX: Cheerio (WB?), Mr. Woodchuck, Glazer, 'BoutTime, Juice Box, Lemming (WB?), Burlap (WD & QIC)
70 degrees and muggy — Summer is finally here.
Seven Pax arrived at Messiah Moravian for a route with no major hills but generally slightly downhill out and uphill back. A nice modest 5K distance.
Three rounds of Tabata included Merkins and Squats to “Give up the Funk” by Parliament; Mountain Climbers and Alternating Curtsy Lunges mostly to “Fat Bottomed Girls” by Queen; and American Hammers and Dying Cockroaches which introduced “Dream On” by Aerosmith.
COT
- no announcements
- prayers for ‘BoutTime’s M, family and friends of a former co-worker of Glazer’s and Mr. Woodchuck’s who passed away, family and friends of an acquaintance of Cheerio’s who died suddenly at age 48, and a friend of Cheerio’s and mine who has been diagnosed with The Covid and is 84 but doing ok so far.
- YHC took us out.
NMM
- First at the AO was Mr. Woodchuck, a visitor from Jacksonville, FL who had checked in with Glazer and tweeted at the Q the night before. Glazer had sent a text to a few guys saying his friend was there and asking us to pretend we liked Glazer, but no one was good enough of an actor to pull that off, so we treated Glazer like we always do. But we were kind to Mr. Woodchuck.
- Lemming was out front early, running towards his home territory.
- JB was coming off an easy 11-miler on Saturday, so he was relaxed and visiting with the six throughout much of the run.
- ‘BoutTime loves to excel at all he does, so he distanced himself nicely both on the Run and especially the Gun. 15 feet is the new 6 feet.
- Cheerio disturbed us by mentioning he was feeling some pain in his chest which started a surprisingly lighthearted discussion of the time he had to get is heart checked and cleaned out. This led to a reminder to some of us to EH Shuttlecock to come back out and run and workout. The Pax moved quickly away from any concern about Cheerio to talking about old stories. (I checked on Cheerio at the time of this writing, and he feels fine… for now.)
- YHC was feeling sluggish and slow after not working out last week and being on a steroid, so I lagged back and went the opposite way around the loop. When I saw Lemming’s blue light about 100 yards in the distance, I turned around. So my mileage was only about 2.8.
- YHC, Glazer, ‘BoutTime, and Mr Woodchuck saw a mature fox running south across Alistair under the power lines. Lemming may have witnessed, also.
- The songs were from my FREE Spotify playlist called, “Random for Workout”. No ads were played. Songs were JB-approved.
- Actually, all the Pax could relate to the older songs as we were in a tight, 10-year age range with Cheerio and Lemming at 46 and YHC at 56 (for another week).
- It was great to have Mr Woodchuck join us and fit right in. He was nice to Glazer, so I guess we will have to be nice to Glazer for a few days.
Gentlemen, I look forward to being with you all each morning that I workout with F3. It is an honor to serve as Q at RNG, so thank you for the keys, Closer.
Peace,
Burlap

Resistor
Nice backblast …nice to see you feeling better !
BTW I did not know you were on steroids, is that not an unfair advantage to all of us non GMO pax ? Have you told BAM ?
😉
BAM
Umm, I’ve never taken steroids, I’m just natural husky, weak, and slow.
Burlap
One of the PAX turned me On to the steroids and. Interestingly, it was not Balco.
