Significance of the Numbers:

2, then 2 more: Dexter Jackson (#2) scored 2 TD’s in the game

13 – game happened 13 years ago

31 – Pierre Banks (#31) led both teams in tackles and sacked Chad Henne in the first half

47 – Corey Lynch (#47) 4 year starter at safety for the Mountaineers, blocked the last second field goal to preserve the 34-32 victory

3 – App ended that 2007 season by winning their 3rd consecutive FCS National Championship

13 – The win against Michigan was 1 of 13 wins that year for the ‘Neers

28 – Number of first half points App scored

47 – Lynch

4 – Number of TD’s Armanti Edwards was responsible for in the game

14 – Armanti Edwards (#14) The Great One himself. 2 Time Walter Payton Trophy Winner (FCS equivalent of the Heisman)

32 – Michigan’s final score

47 – Lynch

6 – Coco Hillary (#6* – Note: actually wore #16 for this game, but famously wore #6 for the majority of his App career) had a few big catches including a catch on 3rd and long that he took all the way to the Michigan 5 yard line to setup the game winning field goal by Julian Rauch. Hilary later admitted that he was not even supposed to be on the field for that play….I’m glad he was.

22 – Leonard Love (#22) 3 year starter for Appalachian who had a huge 4th quarter interception off of Chad Henne

34 – App’s final score

47 – Lynch, who switched places on the FG Block team with Pierre Banks at the last second, snuck through the Michigan line and made one of the most memorable plays in App State history.  Without his efforts, Michigan likely makes that kick and that game is nothing more than a “oh what could have been” game for Appalachian.  Instead, that play and that game put our program on the map, and the rest as they say is history.

Announcements were around IPC Week 1

Praise for YHC’s new job

YHC took us out asking Him to remind us how blessed we are and to never stop being grateful.

NMM

We covered a lot of ground this morning, and the vast majority of the work was OYO, so not a lot of MC to speak of. Also, this happened a week ago and YHC can barely remember what I had for breakfast this morning.

Thanks for the keys, $5. Always an honor to lead
