Tapped by the one and only The Singing Cowboy, esq. to lead the fine men of the Dashpax in the gloom, YHC went to work.  Combining YHC’s keen musical tastes, love of word play, ability to use the google, and search through previous Q’s, a plan was hatched.

It is Christmas season at our house, (notice the lack of assumption of what season it is at other pax houses, a byproduct of The Work convo’s and recognizing while Xmas might be the majority culture, it’s not everybody’s.  If you want to be as enlightened as YHC, then you should join us Monday nights!)  So, combining Carol of the Bells with Kettlebells seemed like a match made in heaven!  And who doesn’t love both well known and not so well known Christmas tunes!

Forecast called for a chilly morning, and YHC did not follow the #protip of keep your bells inside and not in your car.  #intstantnumbness

Searching through my Q archives, found a BnW Q from 2 years ago that seemed just about right.  Except that version was pre-Covid and had an exercise that would violate CDC and Nantan guidelines.  So, a quick search of the mothership website and presto, evidently Dora likes to dance!

Pax began rolling in, eschewing the #fartsack, even heard Manscape shout “We own the gloom!!” in a deeply disturbing guttural voice as he got out of his car.

With tunes rolling, because pax deserve some walk up music, 0530 struck so we got started!

Warm-o-rama

Did a mosey with stops for the usual exercises about every 10 yards or so.

• this normally would be an uneventful part of the beatdown and not need full mention, but as the pax were doing #merkins near the entrance to the parking lot, Winklevoss was running on Spicoli/Zuckerberg time and came flying in the lot nearly taking out everybody.  Never mind that he lives about 100 yards from the AO, assuming traffic was bad.
• So, once heartrates dropped to normal after the near death experience and Total Recall changed into fresh under-britches, we got officially started!

The Thang

Musical Dora! (because counting is stupid)

• P1 does called exercise while P2 runs lap, then flapjack
• Keep doing same exercise until song changes
• Curls – Father Christmas by the Kinks
• Squat to Overhead Press – Christmas All Over Again by Tom Petty
• Pullover – All I want for Christmas is You by Mariah
• Bent over row – Santa Claus goes straight to the ghetto by Nate Dogg and Snoop Dogg
• Skull crusher – Christmas in Hollis by Run DMC

Then pax transitioned to a personal fave because it lacks creativity, takes up time, and is fairly effective!

• 50 kbell swings, 50 WWII – run a lap
• 40 swings and sit ups…

YHC then called for planking for last :45 seconds, although Lace had been done with previous exercises for about 5 minutes.  Thankfully he’s nice and find ways to stay active. (although personally I don’t think kicking over Toe Tag’s kettlebell like that was very nice.  figured it was some kind of medical professional rivalry thing)

• Evidently TR and Organ Grinder’s knees don’t get cold.
• Winklevoss noticed there was no MC during the Mariah Carey classic, probably because everybody was too busy singing along, #youknowyoulikeit
• Sounded like the playlist introduced quite a few pax to songs they had never heard before.  That’s typically Starfish territory, so considered a high honor.
• The lack of stupid counting in the middle of the beatdown did seem to generate quality conversation
• Pax still covered about 1.5 miles with the shorter lap, because running is stupid
