Spring has not Sprung

QIC: Boomerang

YHC had the privilege of being the Q today at TRQ, the premier non-running Core and Strength workout at Speas on Thursdays. Today’s morning temp was a balmy 41 according to the Audi, so the winter attire, including a toboggan were a good choice. Palin agreed that he had to locate his cold weather gear, which almost put him on Spicoli time.  Argyle almost overshot the entrance to Speas, so YHC thought it might be a visiting PAX, but it was not.

By now the time of 5:30 had arrived. YHC gave the mission statement and 5 CORE principles and as one would imagine Palin had the mubble chatter going as we had yet to start SSH’s during the delivery.  To add to his frustration YHC then began with IST, followed by forward arm swirlies, overhead claps, seal claps and backward arm swirlies. We then did Whirlies with the Clap and SSH’s. Moving to the flagpole we continued with Abe Vigodas. With lunges and a slow mosey we made it through the islands in the parking lot to the rock pile. PAX selected a rock to travel with and do higher reps. Let the music begin, which Argyle and YHC and others enjoyed but Palin seemed only to tolerate.

The Thang:

7 of Diamonds-at each corner of the circle, think pairs of 3, the PAX would do 7 of a called exercise around the circle at each corner, then 14, 21, 28, 21, 14 and 7.  Exercises were 7 Curls, 14 Low Flutters, 21 Merkins, 28 LBC’s, 21 OH Press, 14 Skull Crushers and 7 Burpees. Some PAX wondered why we didn’t use the rocks the entire time-YHC doesn’t know. Mongoose believes using a larger space to allow a rest in between the corners makes for a better workout experience.

Return rocks and start our way back to the start. However to use the clock we did a Squat/Jump Squat, Lunge and Al Gore routine that went something like this.

10 Squats, hold Al Gore for a 10 count, 10 Lunges and then 9 Squats, hold Al Gore for a 9 count, 10 Lunges. Continued this nonsense on for 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and somewhere along the way we switched to Squat Jumps. Not sure about the rest of the PAX but YHC felt it.

Mary consisted of 2 Burpees and 16 Merkins to round us up to 30 Burpees and 100 Merkins for the day  as well as Mutton Crunches, Penguin Crunches, Freddie Mercuries, Alabama Prom Dates, and WWII OYO till time.
