Village Idiocy that was all Beers and Sunshine

This was YHC’s first visit to the original Monday morning workout in the Dash in a couple of years. This remains a great AO full of gritty, seasoned veterans. You know, old people. Oh, plus the young site Q. It went like this on a beautiful spring morning:

The Multiplier —
Mosey to shelter in front for 10 dips, 10 Russian Twists, 10 squats, and 10 derkins. Mosey to shelter near field for 20 of each these. Back to first shelter for 30 each. Then back to shelter by field for 40 of each.
Mosey to the field for Beers and Sunshine, inspired by Darius Rucker song that includes:

So we did:
10 Bobby Hurleys
20 Smurfjacks
30 Boxcutters
40 Squats
50 (steps of) Bear Crawl
60 SSHs
Next a re-hash of an early pandemic WIB in which we got back to NORMAL with:
10 Nolan Ryans each side
20 Overhead Claps
Run about 75 meters out, then back
20 Merkins
20 American hammers
10 Lunges each side.
Mosey toward back wall for a game of HOCKEY
H — 10 hand release merkins
O — 15 OH claps
C — 20 Carolina Dry Docks
K — 25 Kicks of the Donkey
E — 30 Elves on a Shelf
Y — spell YOUR F3 name with straight legs, feet together, in all Caps
Back to parking lot where each pax led one Mary exercise.

- It had been so long since YHC had been to VI that I had to call someone the weekend before and make sure I knew where we could wander on the AO.
- I also had to ask Starfish where to park — he was the only one to park in the old, traditional spots.
- YHC was aware that Spicoli could show up at 0540 or so, so the start of the workout was near the parking lot.
- At 0529 YHC inquired whether the Site Q ever came to VI. He showed up at that moment. Solid.
- When YHC began explaining the Beers and Sunshine portion, Starfish repeatedly called BS — part MC and part going along with the gag. To quote Darius, “Turn on the good times; turn off the TV; the only BS I need is Beers and Sunshine.”
- I believe that only DQ had been to my WIB with HOCKEY, so it was generally a new routine.
- Not surprisingly, The Singing Cowboy was the last to finish spelling his name. Not because he is slow….
- Schneider was nearly the WB, replaced at last minute by Snake Eyes.
- TSC and Starfish at age 53 where the median age. TSC is slightly older, so Starfish was happy to be in the younger half of the group of six.
COT
Prayers for Schneider’s and Mash’s mother. Prayers for aging parents, including Starfish’s. YHC took us out.
Bert and Ernie made an announcement during COT. Still crazy after all these years.
