The Thang
The running route for 6/21 takes the PAX back to home of the old Outkasts AO!
https://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/2875219900
This route is eerily similar to one run in January 2020… but that was over 1 pandemic ago!
After picking up the 6, PAX took on tabata, 45s on, 15s off:
- Butt to Bench Squats
- Merkins (Irkins or Dirkins)
- WWIIs
- Burpees
- Dips
- Repeat x2 + one extra round of squats
Fin!
CoT
- Prayers for BAM who recently lost his father
- Continued prayers for Starfish and the loss of his father
- Prayers for Bevo and Turnover with their new 2.3s
- Prayers for Juice Box’s sister in law who is going to John Hopkins to start chemo
- YHC took us out lifting up prayers and giving thanks
NMM
- Sweet Tea commented on two things: “I thought you didn’t do running only workouts!?” Which is only partially true, YHC doesn’t do running only workouts often… and secondly: “It’s a light crows!?” To which I said: “Yeah, I know how to bring them out… most runner PAX either don’t like me, my workouts, or both!” And we each got a good chuckle.
- The 8 unafraid PAX who posted with YHC boldly ran down a freshly paved Cherokee with great speed, and then down a surprisingly sneaky busy Melrose, and a freshly torn up Hawthorne, only to land themselves back on boring old Bolton.
- Greenspan and Palin pulled YHC along for the route, where we caught up to Rustbucket around mile 2. RB launched early but was booking it!
- SweatTea hung out a bit while we commented on the great morning, which would soon turn muggy. He finished faster and stronger than ever.
- Burlap and Cheerio hung together to console Juice Box who was sad that he didn’t need to laminate anything for this route. Great to run some with JB, it was YHC’s first time seeing himĀ upclose all 2021! He said Mr. Capri Sun is going to be a Senior in HS this coming year… anyone else remember when he used to hang off my shoulders while I’d do pullups?!
- Upon starting our tabata, Palin drew much attention to the state of the concrete floor in the shelter… which is shall we say a bit, gross? Literally the entire time he basically just stood there going “EWwwww” like my kids do at dinner.
- Burlap didn’t seem to mind, and wisely had a towel handy to perform all reps with.
- Cheerio knocked everything out while maintaining a sane amount of conversation with Burlap (not Palin levels).
- Sweet Tea and Greenspan chatted a little about the floor, but mostly about other interesting things.
- Mutton didn’t mind the gross floor, he and JB ground out the reps without so much as a complaint.
- Closer was absent, but there in our hearts…
Great to run with those who posted, always nice to step back to one of my near and dear original AOs, lots of good beatdowns with Pickle King and Hand Truck took place here!
And @Closer, thank you for lending me the keys! Always an adveenture to lead these crazy running workouts…. The keys are about to be buried by loads of dirt as part of the new playground equipment installation… you better come get them soon! (Especially since the BB is delayed… #Cobains on being tardy).

Burlap
Good route. At least some of the normal RNG crowd were on vacation.
Mutton pulled me down and up Hawthorne.
