I Hear You Run at Flatline
QIC: Drama Queen
Date: 10/12/2021
PAX: BAM, Spicoli, Lysol, Cherry Pie, Lamb Chop, Drama Queen
Site Q Bevo requested my presence as Q some time ago and how does one say no to Bevo. YHC had not been to Flatline in some time, but I do have fond memories of the early days of Urban Assault when we launched from same parking lot. YHC was also coming off vacation touring south central (corrected by BAM) Texas. Something would come together …oh and I hear running is involved at this Tuesday workout unlike my usual spot at Parliament.
YHC arrived a little early since Slack says this workout starts at 0525. Fortunately Flatline regular Lamb Chop was there to inform me that was for stretching time since there’s no warmup. Sure enough 5 other pax including a very early Spicoli rolled in before time. Just in case, we started with a lap (or lap and a half) around the parking lot. No one else in sight, so we went offroading down First St.
Moseying was mixed in with hi knees, butt kickers, Apollo Creeds, swivel hips, caraokes, and maybe something else. We crossed Broad and headed toward the Green St bridge. YHC made a short comment that this would be reminiscent of my previous Tuesday’s posting with F3 Austin. There we ran across a river bridge that was longer but not nearly as beautiful as the new Dash landmark. But first we stole one of the exercises from Austin – slerkins around a curbed island. Goal was to make it halfway around and then back. We took a break after going right for a jog across the bridge.
There we did a few wrestling sit out drills – AKA Dry Dock Crabs. A total of 7 were performed in honor of different Texas beers I consumed over the course of the weeklong vacation.
Back to the island for leftward slerkins. Then back across the bridge for single legs AKA lunges. Back across the bridge for Mike Tysons. Again across the bridge for defending single legs – AKA reverse lunges. Done with the bridge – cross it back to ball park parking lot in honor of playoff baseball. However, the exercise had nothing to do with baseball other than we kinda rounded the bases.
It was a perfect 3 pairs for supercollider – at stops 10 booyah merkins, 20 sit ups with partner planking on other’s feet, and 30 squats. We made it 2 laps with 4 total stops. Back to launch.
Time for a little Mary in lot and we’re done.
NMM
Good to work out with some pax that YHC hasn’t seen much of in a while.
BAM was mumble chattering about the running before we left the parking lot.
Run down 1st St had a good discussion of local hs football and the fair- ask BAM for the connection
Dropping @Starfish’s name in Austin doesn’t get you much. Only one pax week before knew him
Spicoli later commented on Slack about YHC caraoke form. BAM attributed it to the hips. Possibly why YHC could not walk well rest of the week.
Sorry there were no arm swirly things for Cherry Pie
Decent form on the sit out drills but a couple looked more like drunk Twister
YHC appreciated the Lassie Runners on the way home.
Various mileage reports but close to 3 – considering all rest we got done that was impressive.
YHC promised to get back blast out more quickly than last one which took almost 2 weeks. This is day 6 so check that.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Most have already happened. Sorry about that part of the bb.
COT
Main concern was mental illness in wake of suicides at UNC – we acknowledged that it can happen to anyone or any family. Our role is to be vigilant and reach out or if on the other side, seek someone who can help.
Always an honor. Hate you missed it, Bevo.
