The Thrill of the Chill
QIC: Undertow
Date: 1/22/2022
PAX: Crash!, Singing Cowboy, Lemming, Bluto, Green "W.D" Acres, Woodpecker, Splash, Undertow; and Linus swoops in with a 2.0 for coffeteria.
With a turnout larger than everyone expected, 8 PAX slowly activated their myofibrils. The tunes were cranked up enough so nearby houses could also enjoy the rock-hoppin’ tunes of the Nineties and the Naughts. Playlist included The Clash, Jimmy Eat World, Blink-182, Modest Mouse, REM, Blondie, Dinosaur Jr, the Chili Peppers. Not a single Rush song in the mix. The horror, the horror. Mumble chatter kept to a minimum, or I just couldn’t hear it. Half-hearted attempts to keep count were made by most PAX.
Warmarama (essentially, the entire workout): SSH, Imperial Stout Troopers, Abe Vigoda and Whirly, Merkins, Squats.
Canopy: Carolina Dry Docks, Gas Pumps, Squats, then Diamond Merkins, Lithuanian Hammer, Toes Raises, Jack R’s, Penguin Crunches, Reverse Lunges.
Track: slow mosey to track then TWO Laps around track.
Bullpen substitution: Copperheads, Balls to Chain Link 30 sec, Plank 45 sec, Al Gore 60 sec. Ocho Burpees.
Stonegarten: Partner work with 25 reps of exercise while partner does Peoples Chair, switch, repeato until team 100 count–> Curls, Presses, Bent Over Rows, Skull Crushers.
Mike Tysons. Because, why not. Spontaneous Team Curling. Return Rocks.
Lido: Dips, Squats, Dips, Squats. Wisconsin Prom Dates.
Mary got kinda shortchanged, but still got in some Freddies, Box Cutters, and a smattering more burpees. Fin.
COT: Blood drive, people! Upcoming Q’s. Prayer requests for Spam’s mother who broke her hip, for Giles and his family, for Woodpecker. Q took us out, recognizing a damn fine group of men with whom to spend a cold Saturday.

My myofibrils thank you for a great workout. Heard lots of music new to me (maybe not a challenge…Modest Mouse my fav) and enjoyed the company of awesome HIM’s. 👏.

Love Modest Mouse! Saw them at Cat’s Cradle in ’97 or ’98.
