Blast from the Past at Mayhem
QIC: Turnover
Date: 5.18.22
PAX: Drama Queen (WD), Hansel , Ziffel (WB), Jammer , Splash , Offsides , Workbench , Cruiser , Adobe , High Cotton , Turnover (Q)
Eager to wash the foul taste of 45 minutes of MARY that @Bevo had dished out the week before at #Mayhem, YHC was chomping at the bit to bring a beatdown that was full of movement to the AO he previously Site Q’d. Let’s see how it went.
Warm o Rama –> The Usual Suspects
Mosey to the old #Mayhem launch point (Elementary School Parking Lot, for those who have forgotten)
Head to the rock pile near the entrance and grab a rock
The Q clearly stated the 2 recommendations/guidelines for rock selection: 1) The flatter, the better and 2) Don’t be a hero.
Mosey back to parking lot, next to the playground and circle up for….
The THANG
PAX would perform a variation of the classic BLIMPS. Except this routine had no catchy acronym or rhyme or reason. Just pure, unadulterated suck.
Man-maker Burpees x5
Alt Lunges x10 (DC)
WW2’s w/ rock raise x15
Merkins w/ Rock slide x20 (so 10 each arm)
Front Raise (not to be confused with curls) x25
Goblet Squat w/ Rock x30
PAX would then bear crawl from the circle to the school entrance straight-away, jail break to the end, bear crawl the width of the lot, and jail break to the playground for…
Pullups x12
Repeato until time to return the rocks. All PAX made it through 2 complete loops. @Hansel and @Splash led the way and nearly completed a 3rd loop.
Return the rocks and mosey back to the current #Mayhem launch point for MARY which consisted of a couple usual suspects and some low plank hold until time.
Done.

@Ziffel was none too happy with YHC once he realized I had not brought coffee and donuts for the PAX. @Workbench really set the bar high when he took over as Site Q.
During the beatdown, a few of us wondered aloud about when exactly the #Mayhem launch point changed from the Meadlowlark Elem Lot down to Jamison Park. @High Cotton confirmed that the move had occurred prior to him starting with F3, which was surprising. I know I cannot be the only one that does not miss dealing with the traffic situation up there, but apparently now it’s much better than it was. Either way, the move down to Jamison Park for launch was much needed. (*Editor’s note: YHC combed back through old tweets and determined that #Mayhem moved down to Jamison Park on 1.22.20).
@Workbench complained during the beatdown that “I wish I had known that we’d be doing this and I would have chosen a different rock”. I’m not sure how (as detailed above) “The flatter the better, and Don’t be a hero” could be more clear.
@Ziffel at one point was dealing with some “gastric distress” and proceeded to share that he had consumed more than 3 bags of popcorn the night before. YHC is a big fan of popcorn, but that seems excessive. He and I also were able to determine that we were born only about a month apart, so he took the title of WB today.
It was great getting to post w/ @Offsides again. For various reasons, YHC has not been able to see much of him over the last year or so. Back in the day, he and I posted together very frequently and @Offsides would also leave me in the dust pretty frequently. Nice to see that nothing has changed. The dude was near the front of the pack and knocking out reps like nobody’s business.
As mentioned above, @Hansel and @Splash were out front all morning. They each made light work of the called exercises, which is saying something because this beatdown ended up being pretty darn tough (for us mere mortals). Good work men!
As usual, for musical accompaniment, YHC went to my trusty F3 playlist. And as usual, @DQ was enjoying it. He’s a man of endless talents and exquisite taste. Cheers to you, sir.
It’s always an honor to lead the PAX of F3WS, and it always especially warms my heart to hear them bellyache and complain about the difficulty of a beatdown. Thanks to all of those who posted.
Thanks for the keys, @Workbench. I left them under one of the flat, don’t-be-a-hero rocks at the elementary school.
