Sixteen Legs Were Harmed in the Making of This Beatdown
QIC: Burns
Date: 7.19.22
PAX: Spicoli, Frostbite, Chick Flick, Huckleberry, Workbench, Zima, Turnover, Burns
YHC recently went on vacation and posted with the pax at Saint Simons Island, GA. They had an exercise that I found to be particularly devilish, so naturally I thought that Flatline would be a great AO to debut it to the DashPax. This lovely little exercise is called the Electric Chair, and it works wonders on your hips and quads.
Before we go any further, a couple of definitions:
- The Electric Chair – Walk in place while holding an Al Gore position.
- The Yurpee – (from the F3 Exicon) Burpee Variation in honor of the Ruskie (Yuri Verkhoshansky) who developed Plyometrics to train Olympians. Merkin at bottom of burpee is a clap-merkin and on up portion there are 2 tuck jumps per burpee. Basically a Clurpee with 2 tuck-jumps.
Now, for the backblast
TO joined YHC for a 2 miler EC to get the blood flowing sweat pouring. We returned to an empty lot at 0521 but by 0528 all pax were present that were to be present this am. It’s flatline, so no WOR but we did a bit of a high tempo WOR just in case there were any latecomers.
WOR: mosey to the north end of the launch lot. 10 ISTs IC, then run to the wall on the south end of the lot and back. 10 merkins OYO, then hold Al Gore for the six, then 10 Electric Chairs IC. Run to the wall on the south end of the lot and back, then repeato – 10 merkins OYO, hold Al Gore for the six, 10 Electric Chairs IC.
The thang: mosey to Corpening Plaza and meet in the middle of the lower area. My preblast told pax to bring a sherpa, because we would be “climbing Everest” (another gem pulled from the F3 Exicon). Lunge walk from the center of the plaza to the steps, and then on each step do 1 squat. There are 34 steps from the bottom to the top. Once at the top we moseyed around the fountain stopping for 15 derkins, 15 dips, and 15 irkins. Then we had to climb back down Everest – 1 squat on each stair down and lunge walk back to the middle of the plaza. It was at this juncture that YHC introduced pax to the Yurpee…let’s just say it was a #crowdpleaser. 5 Yurpees OYO. Then everyone’s favorite word: Repeato! (the whole thing, not just the Yurpees). (oof).
Following two round of Everest, we took a short mosey out the south end of the plaza to the bottom of the hill on First St at Town Run/”The Strollway.” Here I unveiled a routine of my own design – ‘The Hills Have AYEs.’ A = American Hammers x20, Y = Yurpees x3, E = Electric Chairs x20. Starting at the bottom of the hill, do AHs then run up to Cherry St and do AHs. Back down the hill for Yurpees, up for Yurpees, down for Electric Chairs, up for Electric Chairs. We were able to do three circuits in the allotted time before moseying back to launch for Mary.
Mary: Electric Chairs x10 IC, 2 Yurpees (to bring our total on the day to 30), American Hammer x10 IC, Heels to Heaven x10 IC, time’s up.
NMM: Frostbite was out front during both rounds of Everest, climbing the stairs didn’t bother him at all #ironlegs. Zima alleged some prejudice on my part during the lunge walks #short. Spicoli demonstrated proper hand-release plank form on many occasions #justaquicksnooze. Huckleberry got some ideas #diabolical. Chick Flick somehow had extra pep in his step on his run home #cantbestopped. Workbench took things to a whole new level during the hill repeats #digdeep. Turnover got a sneak preview of the Yurpee before the prerun and decided to stay anyway #truegrit. YHC ran out of steam at about 0602 and was concerned about splashing merlot #overserved. The highlight of the morning’s mumblechatter was recalling the time a forgotten pax hosted WIB at Harris Teeter. Which one, you ask? The one with the La Carretta, off Robinhood Road. Good laughs were had.
Oh, and nobody had any complaints!
Ok, in actuality there were plenty of complaints.
But in the end, a remarkably despicable leg-heavy beatdown was conquered by some of the finest pax to ever grace the Flatline AO with their presence.

CoT: No prayers were requested. Spicoli spoke quite pragmatically about what F3 being open to all men means. YHC took us out…thanks for the keys, Bevo, you were missed!
