Let the Lanterns Light the Way
QIC: Doublewide
Date: 04.03.2023
PAX: Juicebox, Woodpecker
I woke this morning around 4:10 anxious about two things: 1) what time do I need to leave to set up lanterns and signs along the trail so no one gets lost and 2) am I going to get attacked while running through the woods in the predawn dark by (in ascending order of my fears) a person, a wild animal, or Samara?
I ended up leaving my house around 4:45 to do an EC 2-mile run to set up lanterns and cardboard signs along 3 of the most confusing parts of the trail. I made it back to the start and got nervous that no one would show up but I would still have to go back and get my lanterns which would cause me to relive fear #2 above. However, before my panic attack fully settled in, Juicebox and Woodpecker both pulled up, ready for a trail run. I knew I could count on them!
In the end, I didn’t actually need to set up lanterns or worry about creepy girls crawling out of wells to attack me since we all ran together. Juicebox shared some revelations he’s been learning reading John 17 and how Jesus prays for all believers – including you and me. Powerful stuff. We turned around near Reynolda and headed back past our starting location almost to the top of the hill where Woodpecker has an Airbnb.
Our tabata time under the shelter was short (which may or may not have been intentional on our part). After a round of alternating Bulgarian squats and only one set of durkins, time was called.
No announcements. Go re-read (or read for the first time) John 17.
Thanks for showing up, gentlemen! Always an honor to Q a workout whether 3 or 30 show up, so thank you, Closer, for asking.
