Around 9:30 last night at a party for Sgt. Schultz’s son Milkman (who is getting married tonight!), I was talking with a group of people that included Bernie & Double D and mentioned I was Qing in the morning. Then it hit me: “Wait…I’m Qing…in the morning!” I knew then it was going to be a rough time. Wisely, Sgt. Shultz, Milkman, Bernie, nor Double D joined us for the route.
Ah, the routes. Well, I just couldn’t do it. It seems every time I Q OGs/Tractors, I find the construction site(s) around Winston. This time it was Bitting, although it ended up feeling like a nice trail run over the torn-up road. That was for my Ragnar people (you’re welcome).
Speaking of the route, shout out to Juicebox for being a fellow nerd who meticulously went over the route and noticed I had created it to go all the way around the Reynolds traffic circle loop in order to get in at least 6.2 miles.
Weather was cool and delicious. Pace was (too) fast (for me) although the rest of the PAX looked strong this morning.

- The aforementioned Sgt. Shultz’s son, Milkman, is getting married tonight (and Balco may crash the reception). Congrats to you guys!!

- According to my heart rate zones in Garmin, it appears I died twice trying to catch up to Juicebox (and subsequently lost pace with him)
- Red Eye shared the unfortunate news that his son will be attending Reagan in the fall. #gospartans
- Closer made a 16 on a calculus exam in high school. To answer your question, no, it was not out of 20 like I thought. And yet Wake still accepted him…?
- Bam rocketed out of the starting gate like he’s training for another 50K (are you?) but opted not to wear the weighted vest this morning.
- Woodpecker has been asking random people around town for 2.5 years to come run with him in the dark and no one said yes (sarcastically: shocking) until Slapstick came (actually: shocking). Strong work for the former FNG and hockey fan who hasn’t run since his marathon back in the spring!
- Lemming missed the extra Reynolds traffic circle loop, but we spotted him coming out from the country club a few minutes later. Juicebox thought he got in a round (match? Game? Set? What’s the word there?) of tennis before rejoining us.
- ‘Bout Time, Bueller, Chomper, and Van Pelt led the charge for the 5:15 group. One day I hope to be able to stay with them.
- The Fastholes, comprising of The Vig, Balco, Mongoose, Zuckerberg, Interference, and Winklevoss, went easy on me today and didn’t catch up to me. Don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll get me next week. Interference said a 10K wasn’t enough and went back out for more.
- Bevo, H.O.G., and Greenspan stuck together for the route. Never ceases to amaze me that the guy had brain surgery just a few weeks ago and is back out and looking strong. H.O.G. hopes to come back out again soon now that his kids are done with school. I hope to post with you again sooner than later!
