The Things We See At WIB
QIC: Frostbite
Date: 7/13/2023
PAX: @Van Gogh, @Cherry Pie (WD), @Huckleberry, @Workbench, @Crash, @Frostbite (YHC, WB)
What a morning for a beatdown at #WIB.
When Qing #WIBs, I try to pick spots that are not normally visited. Today was at the Old Sears Hanes Mall building.
Little did I know that many #Pax hate this location. I had only been one other time at @Van Gogh Q and really enjoyed the long distances between stations and the relative flatness. So, I figured this #AO would be a unique opportunity for the #Pax to branch out.
I think most people hate it for the sole reason that @Van Gogh has led some cruel beatdowns there like bear crawling a leg of a station, KB swings for an absurd amount of times, and other @Van Gogh specials that only he can do. Is he the most feared Q?
Anywho, the workout went something like this.
Warm-o-rama
SSH (x 20 IC)
Copperhead Squats (x 10 IC)
Whirley’s Got the Clap (x 10 IC)
Abe Vigoda (x 6 IC)
Avoided arm swirly things since @Cherry Pie was in attendance
The Thang:
3 Stations set up in a triangular route
Station 1:
7 Diamond Merkins
13 Squats
23 LBCs
Station 2:
7 American Hammers DC
13 Wide Merkins
23 Monkey Humpers
Station 3:
7 Lunges DC
13 Ab exercise that I am forgetting
23 Regular Merkins
Repeat Stations but with 1 burpee at Station 1, 2 burpees at Station 2, 3 burpees at Station 3
Rinse and Repeat until time
NMM:
I still do not know if it #WIB stands for Workout-in-a-bag or Workout-in-a-box
@Huckleberry and @Van Gogh were out front all morning lapping everyone.
@Cherry Pie did not bring an FNG as promised and kept asking for water.
@Workbench was out front until the burners blew out (he said it, not me).
@Crash was the only one probably not Thistle counting.
@Schlitz was missed. Woke up to a text saying he was planning on being there but the 2.0 did not cooperate last night.
Whole lotta reps for everyone. Most people got through the full circuit 5-6 times. Strong work by all!
Story Time:
About midway through the workout, 2 dudes starting approaching the lovely parking lot. One was coming from one direction (near the hospital on Silas Creek), the other was coming from the Chipotle/Jimmy Johns entrance. I thought nothing of it… figured they were convening at the 18-wheeler in the parking lot getting ready to start their day. But they were acting awfully suspicious and congregated outside and were just standing there. I did see a handshake between the two. The conversation lasted about 5 minutes. @Crash thought maybe it was a drug deal… maybe someone just needed a bump at 0600. Maybe I did, too! One of the guys called out to me asking if we were training for the Olympics. I responded “yeah, something like that!” Who knows what really went down and I will leave it up to your guys’ imagination. That led to the conversation during #COT of the strange things seen at #AOs… like someone sitting in their car for the whole time.. etc etc. Any other weird run-ins?
Prayers:
@Cherry Pie’s father who starts Chemo today. Could be up to 4 rounds depending on how it goes.
YHC took us out asking for healing and strength and courage.
Honor to lead this morning. Til next time! @Root Canal the 2 guys took the keys so you’ll have to go on a hunt for them.

Crash
I thought it was a great AO. I sat by the Dave and busters until about 2 min til when I figured I wasn’t quite in the right place. The asphalt was freakishly warm. I’ll come back to get my fix for sure. And the next time I do burnouts. It seems like the best place for burnouts and definitely better than mayhem.
Green Acres
Other weird run-ins: at TRQ a couple years ago, a shirtless former wrestler (possibly drunk and homeless at this stage of his life) walked up to the circle as we started Warmarama and insisted we warm up, then told us he used to do “about a thousand pushups and sit-ups and run 10 miles” at every practice. I invited him to join us but he declined, but kept talking and instructing. He finally walked away, still talking.
