Quasi-Mutiny with Rocks, or “I’m doing something else.”
Date: 10/5/23
PAX: Wobegon (EC Run), Mutton (EC Run), Green Acres (EC Run, WD), Argyle, Boomerang, The Pony Express, Giles (WB), Greenspan
Four awesome pax joined four EC runners for a perfect morning in the quarry.
Warmarama:
SSHs, Cherry Pies, Standing Hamstring 10-Counts, Abe Vigodas, Down/Upward Dog stretches
The Thang
Slow mosey to long parking lot along Polo. Travel from island to island via various means:
Island #1 to #2: Burpee Broad Jump (“What’s that?!”)
Island #2 to #3: Lt. Dans (Squat, Lunge, Lunge)
Island #3 to #4: Bear Crawl
Island #4 to #5: Duck Walk
Mosey to grassy area beside dirt track. Pax were advised to find a soft place in the grass which was not a popular recommendation. Turk ‘n Burps (TnB) x 1 and Heels to Heaven (H2H) x 10. Repeato, adding 1 TnB and subtracting one H2H until TnB x 10 and H2H x 1. This took longer than expected.
Mosey to the quarry and pick a rock. Circle up. Perform called exercise x 22 reps. Then step one rock to the left and perform next called exercise x 22 reps. Continue until instructed to return rocks.
- Curls
- OH Press
- Upright Row

NMM:
- Wobie and YHC launched promptly at 0505 for the EC run. Along the way, we picked up Green Acres and Mutton. Great job, fellas.
- Giles was the fortunate soul who apparently has never had to do burpee broad jumps before today. Boomerang is the fortunate soul who doesn’t give a rip what the Q calls and does whatever he wants.
- Which is a perfect segue to Argyle’s reaction to the Q’s call for Turk ‘n Burps (Turkish get up + burpee): “That’s stupid. I’m doing something else.” He then proceeded to do exactly as asked with exquisite form.
- YHC isn’t sure whether everyone else completed the entire cycle of Turk ‘n Burps and H2Hs, but YHC is sure that Green Acres did. The War Daddy persevered and punished the Q’s call.
- Boomerang, Pony, and Wobegon (I think) decided that the asphalt was soft enough for them; that’s how much they hate grass. Green Acres, Mutton, and Argyle opted for the wood chips of the play area, leaving only Giles and YHC in the grass.
- YHC doesn’t recall hearing duck walks or TnBs called since Covid. Burpee broad jumps have been called; see Huckleberry’s regular usage of those for reference.
- Depending on where you were in the rock circle for each exercise determined your level of pain/satisfaction. Everyone grimaced when they got to Green Acres’s rock, no matter the exercise called.
Announcements:
- GreenNest needs a Q.
- Ziggy has Q at IS on Saturday.
- Pony Express has Q at Purgatory on Saturday AND invites all pax to come to his house at 1100 for the Red River Rivalry (Texas / OU) with brisket, corn dogs, Shiner beer. Best offer you’re going to get this side of Thanksgiving.
Prayer Requests:
- Aging parents.
- Praise that Boomerang’s oldest son passed level 1 of the CFA with flying colors.
- Giles’s M.
Thanks for the keys, Green Acres. They’re somewhere in the grass.
