My alarm went off this morning and I turned it off, rolled over…then realized with a jolt that I had to be there (UGH…but thanks BooBoo). An even 12 gathered in the gloom for a run that basically took them down Queen and back on Reynolds. When we started, Resistor didn’t sound too thrilled about being “stuck with” a “bunch of fat kids”. Whether it was a slip up or maybe he meant it, but he claims he said “fast” kids. Palin and I both heard otherwise.

I actually chose this route because I felt really strong a couple weeks ago during OGs and thought I might go for a really fast time this morning, so I copied an earlier OG route from my history where I had one of my fastest times.

And then the Hawthorne hill happened.

I saw Palin pulling further and further ahead and I knew, nope, today is not the day for me. Which actually worked out great (for me) because I was able to run with Resistor and ‘Bout Time (not so great for them).

• Winkelvoss is feeling confident about his Tide against the Wolverines
• Good to see Chomper out again, who’s finally over the crud
• Speaking of crud, Van Pelt was battling it, which is why he’s been missing lately
• Always good to see Bueller out in the gloom, but we missed ya on the OG route
• I saw Balco running in on Reynolda when I came to OGs…then saw him running back on Reynolda when I was leaving. We assumed he was getting in those final miles of 2023?
• ’Bout Time didn’t know what Slack was called. He asked Resistor and I but was so far off on what he thought it was called (Soomi? Sutton?) that we had no idea what he was even talking about for at least a half mile.
• Interference is still looking strong after his crushing of the Chicago Marathon. I hope I’m as good a runner as him when I grow up.
• BooBoo didn’t want to wake up either (but thanks for making me accountable!)
• Resistor and I were finishing up Glade and, WITHOUT WARNING, he suddenly starts sprinting like Usain Bolt all the way to the finish line. Way to make me finish harder than I would on my own. You’re twice my age (wink wink) but always give me a good push.
• Palin ran in, ran out, and STILL was the fastest 5:15er of us all
