As Good As We Once Were

8 Pax gathered at TRQ, to remember Toby Keith and honor his song “As Good as I Once Was.” While country music played (headlined by Toby Keith), the Pax did a core modified version of the magnificent seven beatdown. It went something like this:
Warm-o-Rama: the usual for Goofy, and we moseyed between each exercise to make progress to the back of the school and get some rocks.
We gathered at the circle under the light. We then sought a goal of 7 rounds of the exercises below – written on cardboard in large letters so no reading glasses were necessary.

No time for Mary, we returned our rocks and made our way back to the front of the school.
We circled up and YHC took us out

- Kotters to @SgtSchultz who was motivated that a playlist inspired by Toby Keith created a safe space free of a certain Canadian band. He was correct
- YHC was inspired for this workout by the passing of Toby Keith at age 61 and his song of growing older, not being able to do what you used to. It reminded me of when I loved to do the full Magnificent 7 workout (FYI the round started with 7 pull-ups, 14 burpees and finished with a run around a regulation size track). Thankful for what i can do and the opportunity to do it.
- Upon hearing the song “Should have been a cowboy” @burlap noted that this must be what @Pony thinks every time he logs into his laptop each morning”.
- YHC, showing my age, when moseying between exercises during warm-o-Rama, tried to say stop at the next light, and somehow said stop at the next stop light. They understood me anyway and laughed.
- It was pointed out that there were 8 pax and 12 respects. This required math that @burlap surely understood.
- @Boomerang noted that we were old enough to attend a “silver sneakers” work out at the YMCA and YHC was indeed wearing “silver sneakers” – okay they were more gray than silver, but the shoe still fits.
- Playlist was one of those that YHC loved, but wasn’t sure of the Pax reaction. Being the Texan that he is, @Pony loved the song choices and remarked he likes both kinds of music – Country and Western.
