Bumpy starts and a throwback fitness test and tunes at Purgatory
QIC: BAM
Date: 05/04/24
PAX: Boomerang, Green Acres (WD), Draftee, Burlap, Parkay (WB), Splash, Starfish (Mode), Undertow, Superfly, D-Day, BAM (QIC)
In prepping for to Q, YHC looks back at previous workouts to see what has been done before. Well, the first workout I led at the Pug, was November of 2014, so thought would be “fun” to see if our pax were more fit from 10 years ago than today. (Have no idea who was at that workout, so certainly no way to know that any of today’s pax were in attendance, but that’s besides the point)
YHC got off to a bumpy start, when travelling to the AO in big box GreeNest truck, YHC realized my phone was not with me. The Q would have been cutting it closer than desired anyway, but the curated playlist needed to be shared with the pax! So, after a Uturn on Polo and eventually making it to the AO just a “couple” minutes late, YHC kindly thanked Undertow for stepping in with both tunes and some #warmorama work!
So, the rain held off at the beginning and we got started!

NMM
- So, the bumpiness of the morning was quickly realized by the Q, because the ruck that was supposed to be used, was promptly forgotten, so disregard any mention of that
- Also, we learned that pax age and desire to do partner push and pulls has SEVERELY decreased in 10 years. So, very few pax opted for that
- Similarly, partner carries we scratched for just lunge walking up the hill #weareold
- Rain go kinda heavy while on Lido deck, so pivoted to covered area
- There was some “confusion” on the squats and merkins till you drop contest – taking a quick stretch or rest kinda defeats the purpose of the contest.
- Draftee, GA, and Starfish were the winners of the merkin challenge (pretty sure Draftee could have kept going for another 30 minutes)
- Not sure who were the winners of the squat contest #cobains
- No surprise that Starfish was aware that Hard to Handle is actually a cover of the version Otis Redding did decades before
- Superfly brought his own pad for travel and comfort #promove
- Splash was most vocal/confident that his fitness had not improved in 10 years
- Speaking of Splash, do not call him if you have any billing or service issues with the Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville
- There was jovial laughter during COT
- Discussions of hand and nail care by CFA staff at #coffeteria were also had
- Especially Parkay enjoyed the lyrical stylings of Digital Underground’s “Humpty Dance”
