The 5th edition of this year’s 22 challenge, it was the first day after YHC turned 22. YHC’s first beatdown as an Aye! After 8.5 years receiving Hate as a 30-something, it seemed appropriate to herald in a new era with a 22 beatdown. Unfortunately, YHC climbed 13 miles and 3500ft of climb up and down Mt Mitchell the day before on YHC’s actual birthday, and the legs were QUITE sore. Not even climbing a mountain could deter YHC from posting for a 22 Q! A thought occurred to keep off the Intimidator, but that would be a disservice to the PAX. So YHC sucked it up, and went for it. It went a little something like this…

CoT
- Spicoli spoke about how he wasn’t going to come out at first due to extreme soreness and not wanting to get injured, but as he was tossing and turning in bed, he decided he could just come and walk, which is better than nothing. Indeed! He also gave some kind words about YHC pushing him at workouts, and how he was grateful for that. Thank you brother!
- YHC spoke on how F3 was a part of my life for 8.5 of my years in my 30s, and hope to keep this going just as much if not more in my 40s; then took us out giving thanks for the morning, for F3, and to made into better men / fathers/husbands/sons/brothers/coworkers/friends.
NMM
- 2.5 miles covered – mostly up and down the Intimidator, 110 Mike Tysons, 110 American Hammers, 40 burpees
- Every man present pushed themselves beyond their comfort zone.
- YHC was sore from hiking 13 miles up Mt Mitchell the day before, but that could also be the old age settling in.
- Lot’s of chatter from Palin on Thistle counting, which I think we can just go ahead and change to Palin counting?
- Great to see newer guys Lincoln and Sweet Spot out, they did a great job pushing it and fit right in! Looking forward to their VQs!
- Chomper seemed unphased by the beatdown, clearly he has been eating his Wheaties! Great to chat with him up and down the Intimidator for a few rounds (until he left YHC in the dust).
- Zima was out in front all morning, not even close. He either took some an extra scoop of pre-workout or woke up extra excited about the 22-challenge because the dude was flying up and down the hill.
- Frank and Beans is an excellent example of how newer guys are the lifeblood of F3. 6 months in, he is already a site Q and a fantastic one at that. Keep bringing those new guys, uf F3 ”veterans” can learn a thing or two from them new guys!
Next opportunity to do the 22 challenge is 6/22 at Alcatraz! Hope to see you all there,
