A perfect Halloween morning. A great plan to put Edgar Allen Poe’s iconic short story to work. Elite company. A recipe for excellence, and the finished product was as so:

WoR – Abe Vs (cheers from the crowd!), Whirlies, ISTs, Michael Phelps, and SSHs.

The Thang (aka The Pit and the Pendulum aka Greenspan’s Indecorum)

Start in The Pit – the parking lot at the Food Lion on Hawthorne – and do one Burpee

Run up the hill to Stella Brew for 15 Mike Tysons and 15 Crunchy Frogs

Return to The Pit and do two Burpees

Run up the hill in the other direction to Ardmore Christian Church for 15 Diamond Merkins and 15 American Hammers

Keep adding a burpee in the pit while running the pendulum for time.

A classic tale of danger and desperation. Full text here. Being trapped in the darkness (check) with an impending doom (check) making our circumstances more difficult by the moment (check) only to be saved at the last minute by General Lasalle (check?). Heck, Poe even did most of his work free of charge. The parallels between Poe and this gloomy F3 morning are uncanny.

This was awful. Greenspan said he has notes but hasn’t texted me yet because I think he’s mad at me. Or he’s tired from “staying up” for the Dodgers’ World Series Victory. Rollback was out front all morning with Lamb Chop until LC had to dip out early for a breakfast date. Cherry Pie and Zima are the orange juice burp to one another’s freshly brushed teeth. The Deepwater Horizons Oil Rig to one another’s Gulf of Mexico. The fox to one another’s henhouse. I think you get the picture. Huckleberry told me that I had finally found a way to make perfect weather suck. That’s rich, considering the source. Frostbite, Ludikrous, Rubber Ducky, and Workbench were silent warriors this morning, offering high fives and the occasional “nice work” in passing. Mutton offered the lone compliment of the morning – “this was a great WIB. high cardio, simple stations.”

Announcements – Trail run this Sunday w/Woodpecker, Wobegon, and YHC. Come join! F3WS Christmas party from 6-9 (nice) on 12/6 at Bar Nola.

CoT – prayers of thanksgiving for Henry “Hank” Williams aka Pollster Jr.

Thanks for the keys, Root Canal! I threw them into The Pit.
