TWIT (The Wet Iron Throne)

Date: 12.9.24

PAX: Rachel Ray, Scrooge, Bagpipe, Rubber Ducky, Bevo, Green Acres, Rollback, Frostbite (EC), Schlitz (EC), Greenspan

The weatherpersons got it right this time.  It was raining.  It was mid-40s.  It would have deterred many lesser men (including possibly YHC), but not the 10 HIMs who joined YHC at TIT for their morning red pill.

Warmarama:

SSHs, Abes, Whirlies, Cherry Pies

The Thang:

Mosey down Yorkshire to the church where the haven of shelter from the rain greeted us.  What awaited us was Tabata.  Nope, that’s not right.  It was a box of protein shakes.  Nope, wrong again.  It was a weinke with a bunch of exercises on it.  Pax were instructed to perform 10 reps of an exercise, run a lap around the parking lot island, return and perform (just) the next exercise and repeato on down the weinke.  When you reach the bottom, work your way back up.  Due to the inclement weather changing YHC’s plans a bit, we modified a few of the exercises.

  • Dive Bombers
  • Side-to-Side Molotov Merkins
  • Hand-Release Merkins
  • Pull-Ups
  • Squats
  • Lunges (DC)
  • Star Jumps
  • Heels to Heaven
  • WW2s
  • Cobra Crunch (DC)
  • Curls Dips
  • Russian (or Romanian) Deadlifts
  • Glute Bridges
  • OH Press Carolina Dry Docks
  • Thrusters (minus the block)
  • Side Crunches (DC)

Mosey home for 2 minutes of Mary, i.e. Alternative shoulder tap jacks, IC.

Time.

Announcements:

Prayer Requests:

  • Bagpipe is celebrating graduation from his master’s program!
  • Prayers for his (Bagpipe’s) brother to come out to a workout.
  • Prayers for those guys and families with young kids.
  • YHC is thankful for guys who come out to Qs even when the weather is terrible and / or when YHC has failed to show for their own Qs.

NMM:

  • YHC had planned to be over on the playground with the coupons from the stack but was awakened by rain around 0330. The wheels started turning for an Omaha.  YHC scouted out for shelter to keep the pax (mostly) dry while still giving opportunity for some running.
  • Schlitz and Frostbite were faithful friends to show up for the EC run at 0500. YHC sacked on them last week after not sleeping well.  T-Claps, boys.  Y’all were flying.  You guys should probably do something stupid like run an Ultra Ragnar.
  • YHC’s Bluetooth has been commandeered by his 13-year-old 2.0 daughter. As she doesn’t seem to want much to do with me right now, YHC took it as a compliment that he still has some value to her.  Fortunately, the Duck had both a speaker and tunes.
  • Speaking of: considering the weather conditions, the Duck was relatively mild today.  He just went to work.
  • Zima showed up quietly, uncharacteristically. He didn’t stay quiet.  He had many things to say including how stupid Cherry Pie is and how Thistle is old which explains why he (Thistle) always asks “Who is this?” when people text him.
  • Rollback and Zima were out front all morning, blazing fast, clearing the puddles for the rest of us. YHC kept his word to Rollback to modify if the weather decided not to cooperate.
  • Great to see Rachel Ray out this morning after meeting him at The Christmas Party Friday night. He’s got a can do positive spirit about him.
  • Bagpipe was another who was rolling through the reps; we should have retrieved a block for him to provide a more sufficient challenge.
  • Green Acres disregarded the absence of a pullup bar and clung by his fingernails to the frame of the church door. YHC heard him say “You poor mere mortals.”
  • Bevo was helpful in keeping YHC’s legs somewhat balanced by running the loop in alternating directions. He was another who apparently wanted Tabata rather than what we got.
  • Scrooge is another newish pax that, YHC can tell, is going to be a front-runner. It was great to meet him.  He’s a Wells Fargo banker for you other gold rushers out there.

It was great to be with you all this morning and especially excellent to see several new faces becoming regulars.

Ducky, thanks for the keys. You’ll get them back when the Tabata timer expires.
