This is the 11th Anniversary Celebration of the F3 Winston Salem Dash PAX and this was a solid turnout for a 27 degree morning in the year of our Lord January 4th, 2025. The Duck was so excited that he could not go back to sleep after getting up on my own at 4 am. I guess this routine tends to stick even on the weekends, but I digress. Pulling into the parking lot I saw our loyal general Zima getting ready for his solo EC Run. The Nantan (Frostbite) and the EC hard hitting PAX got there for a 4 miler before the rest of us mortals get there for the 7 am start. No metals for this just bragging rights.
Arriving in the parking lot of our mothership Hanes Park, I realized my promised playlist was not finished. So, I consulted the algorithm that is Spotify to help me finish it out. There was a good mix from all genre’s so I went with it.

This left about 10 minutes for the Duck to take us out. So we moseyed to the soccer goal. 11 merkins on your own. Mosey back to start.
One of my favorite ways to close a workout is:
AC/DC Thunderstruck – Like a drinking game but with burpees
- Every time you hear “Thunder” you do a burpee
- In between burpees you are doing the side straddle hop
This sounds easy but it is quite “challenging”. This also is 4:57 of 33 burpees and however many SSH’s you can do. Mumble chatter and complaining were very high by now. Almost an hour in and this makes me happy, and I take it as a compliment. Bevo and Burns acted like they were from Tucson and were trying to hit each other in the balls with a stray tennis ball. Must have been playing the “Capital of Thailand Game” – (Bangkok). Distraction was high, and $5 and Transcript stepped in to help keep the rhythm. The speaker I brought was full blast, but I probably needed the one Inspection Gadget that needs a generator and a small nuclear reactor to power. Oh well, we are where we are. I am losing the PAX toward the end of this, but I press on. We finish and there are still 4 minutes left. I can barely catch my breath but carry on.
Mary – 11 Reps of Each

- Low Dolly
- Mutton Crunch Left

COT – Enter Reverand Dr. Toot
With my dogs (feet and toe) talking to me, Dr. Toot, who is recently off IR (Injured Reserve) starts off with what is truly a philosophical sermon on how we need to accept help without needing anything in return. He outlines that in many cases it is easy for us to give help but harder to receive help. I know I am guilty of this because we as HIM’s pride ourselves on being protector and providers to our M’s and 2.0’s and the community. It is also fine to be vulnerable and lean on the fellow PAX in this exceptional group. Toot goes on to talk about the importance of this further in the fact that it touches on so many aspects of our lives and we get caught up in relationships that can be transactional. For example, I do something at work, and I get paid for that. But the relationships that are the rarest are the ones that are done with sacrifice when nothing is expected in return. This is the true meaning of love in the biggest sense and commitment to this is what our world needs right now more than ever. Bodet (down range PAX from Boone) mention he had been in stage 4 cancer and would not be here if it were not from daily support from the PAX. Our very own Green Acres has experiences this and shared much of his experience and insights with him. All of this said much thanks and gratitude to this group.
Toot takes us out with a very inspirational prayer. This prayer I should have recorded it to keep on the master file for posterity but somehow seems better taken internally without distraction. Typing this up, I can feel myself a little emotional recalling it because it was so powerful. Toot reminds us that we GET to be here and that we do not HAVE to be here.
To all the PAX who could not make it, to all that were here, and to all in F3 nation, be thankful for this group of HIM’s. I know personally my life has been enriched these last 2 years and I would not change a thing. I hope to help, inspire and contribute to the group in the future.
Thank you again for allowing me to lead part of the anniversary beat down and handle the recap for posterity.
