I have a headache

QIC: Rollback

Date: 3/13/25

PAX: Van Gogh, Lambchop (WB), Zima (WD), Rollback

First F

Warm-o-rama:
  • SSH – 25 IC
  • Imperial Storm Trooper – 15 IC
  • Michael Phelps – 5 IC
  • Abe Vigoda – 6
The Thang
Site: Calvary Baptist – a classic choice – middle lot
  • Start at the corner near the long side walk. 1 Burpee, 1 squat, 1 merkin, 1 WW2.
  • Run down the lot. 2 Burpees, 2 squats, 2 merkins, 2 WW2s.
  • Run back to the other side of the lot in the next row. 3 burpees, 3 squats, 3 merkins, 3 WW2s.
  • Zig zag back and forth building numbers until the end of the last row, where 5 Rollback burpees are performed (no increase).
Stayed together as a group and made it up to a full set of 17. We sprinted back to start and started round 18 until time was called.
Mary:
  • no time, needed to get more burpees in

Third F

Prayer Requests:
  • Lambchop’s M is pregnant – not feeling well which is both a blessing and tough
Announcements:
  • Q School March 29 before Purgatory (see Turnover for deets) – learn the basics about Q-ing (some of us clearly skipped this…)
  • Decade name change proposed: 50s – Respect, 60s – Honor, 70s – LEGENDARY (prev, respect, respect-respect, etc.)
  • Bagpipe new Site Q at TIT on March 17
  • Tammy VQ at UA tomorrow 3/14/25
  • Zesty VQ at Conspiracy on 3/19/25

Second F

NMM:
  • Van Gogh had date night last night – he got dizzy early in the game this morning, while rolling from merkins to WW2s. Still, he had it better than the M who may or may not have had a headache before or after date night. The answer is unclear. It’s surprisingly common for M’s to be plagued with headaches after going out to eat – must be an estrogen thing.
  • We discussed whether our M’s would’ve married us if we were part of F3 before we got married – answer here is also unclear.
  • Zima is not commenting on his XM’s post-divorce physical appearance (Lambchop suspects physical augmentation – not the case).
    • Though Zima is not commenting on his XM’s choices, the PAX commented on Zima’s marriage advice rule #25 – one should always volunteer to coach one’s kids’ basketball team with your Ex-husband-in-law (is that a thing? idk)
  • Dr. Toot apparently gives good marriage wisdom (better than Zima’s at least) – don’t pretend your M’s car is stolen to teach her a lesson. Rather, buy her flowers. (But flowers do NOT fix headaches)
  • Lambchop loved the burpees, the counting, the increasing numbers, and the running (especially sprinting at the end). It was all his favorite.
  • Zima ran in and ran out. YHC thinks he stashed the weight vest in a bush on the way in and put it back on when he left to make us all look less weak. He might also be trying to figure out how he can put ChatGPT in his own brain.
Reflections:
I’m equally as thankful when only 4 PAX show and when 15 show. Just like both the quantity of reps is important and the quality of reps is important. I think that’s applicable to all realms of life. The quantity of your friendships in your life is equally as important as the quality. They should be balanced. It doesn’t afford a man to have 1000 “friends”. Neither should we have just 1 “good” friend. Our M’s are amazing – but they’re from Venus and we’re from Mars…I think that’s how that goes. We need other men. It’s so easy to step back onto the island of “manliness” as defined by culture. Stepping away from good iron-sharpens-iron masculinity is easy. Stepping up into really manhood is hard.
But what’s easy doesn’t make us better. Muscle growth happens AFTER muscle breakdown. Emotional growth happens after emotional pain. Spiritual growth comes with facing adversity and depending on “a higher power” (God, for me) and getting through. We all face challenges. We all screw up. It’s the decisions that come next that make us who we are. Do we give up? Do we turn around. Or do we keep going…keep showing up? Showing up to F3 is good. Posting is good. Reps are good. Quality is EQUALLY as important. We should be men who strive to have Quality and Quantity in our lives. It’s not speed/form or form/speed. The real measure of a man is speed + form. To give up on either is just that – giving up. And I don’t like to give up.

Another delightful backblast, especially the Reflections. Glad we’re in the same cult Rollback! 😄💙
