Thistle’s Revenge
Date: 3.6.25
PAX: Drip, Mutton, Chomper, Palin, Greenspan
YHC has recently been inspired to dig into the Qs of yesteryear. Among the memorable beatdowns of the past in YHC’s wrinkled noggin was Litterbox’s WIB on Buena Vista (https://www.f3winstonsalem.com/f3/2018/11/buenos-dias-buena-vista/) which was a remix of Thistle’s OG Q (https://www.f3winstonsalem.com/f3/2018/03/the-hills-are-alive-barely/). YHC had not been sucked into F3 for the original but was here for LB’s version. In rereading those epic catastrophes, YHC wondered, “What would happen if we started at the top instead of the bottom” of Buena Vista hill? Four other pax joined in to find out.
Warmarama:
Not time wasters but maybe wasting your time reading about them in a backblast.
The Thang:
We moseyed up Buena Vista, passing six weinkes and five orange cones along the way. Upon arriving at Springdale, pax were given instructions.
- Run down to the first cone and perform the two exercises (Dive Bombers & Hand-Release Merkins) x 15 reps each, then run back up to Springdale and perform burpees x 2 (always 2 burpees at Springdale).
- Run down to the first cone and perform the first exercise (dive bombers) x 15, then down to the second cone and perform both exercises (feet-on-the-curb CDDs & Plank Jack Shoulder Taps, both x 15), then run back up to first cone and perform second exercise (hand-release merkins) x 15, then back to Springdale for burpees x 2.
- Run down to the first cone and perform the first exercise (dive bombers) x 15, then down to the second cone and perform the first exercise (FotC CDDs) x 15, then down to the third cone and perform both exercises (Russian Deadlifts and Backward Lunges) x 15, then back up to the second cone for the second exercise (Plank Jack Shoulder taps), then the first cone for the second exercise (hand-release merkins), then back up to Springdale for burpees.
- Run down to the first cone and perform the first exercise (dive bombers) x 15, then down to the second cone and perform the first exercise (FotC CDDs) x 15, then down to the third cone and perform the first exercise (Russian Deadlifts) x 15, then down to the fourth cone for both exercises (Heels to Heaven & Glute Bridges) x 15; repeat pattern back up to Springdale, performing second exercise at each stop.
- Run down to the first cone and perform the first exercise (dive bombers) x 15, then down to the second cone and perform the first exercise (FotC CDDs) x 15, then down to the third cone and perform the first exercise (Russian Deadlifts) x 15, then down to the fourth cone for the first exercise (Heels to Heaven) x 15, then down to the fifth cone for both exercises (Low Flutters and V-Ups) x 15; repeat pattern back up to Springdale, performing second exercise at each stop.
- Run down to the first cone and perform the first exercise (dive bombers) x 15, then down to the second cone and perform the first exercise (FotC CDDs) x 15, then down to the third cone and perform the first exercise (Russian Deadlifts) x 15, then down to the fourth cone for the first exercise (Heels to Heaven) x 15, then down to the fifth cone for the first exercise (low flutters) x 15, then down to the stop sign at Reynolda for both exercises (boot-slap squats & monkey humpers) x 15. Repeat pattern back up to Springdale, performing second exercise at each cone.
The End.

- Bagpipe’s friend, JC, has stage 2 cancer.
YHC prayed us out.
NMM:
- Burns made a comment last Friday about YHC’s Qs being, in YHC’s words, “overly-complicated”. This morning might have qualified. Upon hearing YHC’s first attempt at the instructions, Palin started laughing and walking home. We made it down to the fifth cone today, but were unable to get back up the hill.
- Palin and Mutton were attendees at previous editions of this beatdown; both remarked that this was more “fun”.
- Lots of “That’s what she said” were said. Unrelated, Drip, who was flying this morning, said he can’t last long at that speed, but YHC never saw him slow down.
- Mutton delved into the lore of the Mutton Crunch when asked, “What was the Mutton Crunch before it took on its current moniker?” Answer: Elbow-to-Knee (E2K) Crunch.
- Chomper was sick all of February but was looking strong.
- Palin remarked that feet-on-the-curb CDDs on a 1-inch curb are not that different than feet-off-the-curb CDDs.
Thanks, Root Canal, for the keys. We miss you (and Thistle and Litterbox).
