Getting Lost in Grayln
QIC: Doublewide
Date: 04.07.2025
PAX: Woodpecker, Sunjoy, Closer, Burlap, ‘Bout Time, Juicebox
I was up until 11:30pm last night at a Master’s auction draft with some friends, and there is absolutely no way I would ever have gone to Run n Gun…except that Closer had peer-pressured me to Q. Jerk!
We met at Reynolda Gardens and made our way past Dough Joe’s and across Reynolda through that little neighborhood. At the top of the hill, Burlap told us we had to turn back and go right because that’s what the map said. In fact, Burlap was so confident in his directions that he even convinced me, who actually created the route, to follow him down the hill (in definitely the wrong direction). Thanks to Woodpecker’s Oregon Trail wristwatch, we realized our – excuse me, Burlap’s – blunder and headed in the correct direction, which was past Summit, in and around Grayln, and back past Reynolda Manor. Actually, thanks to Burlap’s detour, we all avoided coming up that steep hill in the parking lot at the end, so thank you for that.
We finished with a tabata with some new (to me) exercises, like World War I Snow Angels or Zombie Crunch (thanks, Exicon!). John Howie Jr (coming to Ramkat April 19th) was the music of choice. Time was called.
Announcements:
- Lunch Bunch is Friday at noon, location TBD. Woodpecker is looking for Qs. Super easy and no prep – just pick a place to eat and show up!
Prayer Requests:
- Juicebox’s 2.0 Hank had a follow-up job interview today
Naked Man Moleskin
- Burlap and Sunjoy had clearly called each other beforehand because they were wearing matching opposite outfits (gray shirt & blue shorts vs blue shirt & gray shorts), the yin and yang of Run n Gun.
- Closer doubted my directional skills to get in and around Summit, but so did I, so I can’t give him too hard of a time
- Running with Juicebox and Woodpecker is a quintessential example of Gen X vs Millennials. Juicebox almost always has the route typed and laminated (!!), while Woodpecker has it digitally loaded onto his aforementioned Oregon Trail watch. Either way, I never get totally lost running with them!
- ‘Bout Time followed Burlap all the way down the wrong hill, yet managed to catch me, pass me, and move all the way up to the front group with Closer and Sunjoy. Strong work!
Thanks for making me get out of my bed this morning, Closer. I gave you a hard time earlier, but getting up and doing the hard thing is a great lesson I learn almost every morning from F3. Thank you for pushing me this morning.
