Sprinting and not sprinting at #Redline
QIC: BAM
Date: 11/12/19
PAX: Valdez, Plunger, Sac, Hit Man, Balco, Manscape (WD), Band Camp (WB & FNG!), Bevo, Winklevoss, BAM
Valdez fulfilled his Site Q details by reaching out to YHC with an email asking if a Q today was possible. Of course it was possible! Always willing to post to Redline, a place where YHC can help you win a bar bet by being the answer to the question, “What pax posted to the very first Redline who still lives in the Dashpax land?”
When the forecast began looking “better and better”, YHC knew it was a date made in destiny. And on the same day that our uber-disciplined and organized Sgt. Schultz overslept for his Q, YHC was actually early to his Q. #bizarroworld
So, the pax started running, driving, and walking in, and we had robust group of 10! As the group got chatty, the Q glanced at his watch and realized it was 7:31!! #kotters Since Valdez had EH’d an FNG, a disclaimer and brief introduction was given. And we were off!
Warm-0-rama
Mosey around the park to get things warmed up, to the right of course, only psychopaths do a warm up lap to the left! (or Toto in London)
The Thang
- Ladder work on the track
- 3 x 100 meter “fast running” with 2 minute recovery between runs
- 3 x 150 meter “fast running” with 2 minute recovery…
- 3 x 100 meter “fast running”….(you get it by now)
- Fastholes did a bonus 400 meter run, just because they can
- Mosey to West End and Sunset intersection
- All you got/all you want to give until first person arrives at Glade
- That would be Sac and Bevo if you’re keeping score at home or at the Iron Pax Challenge
- Mosey back to parking lot
NMM
- Because we had an FNG, the Q wanted to make sure to model humility. The first act of graciousness was when YHC peeled off the warm up lap at intersection of Reynolda and NW and moseyed to the track from there. Not because is woefully out of shape and 78 lbs overweight, the Q was just being a gracious host to make sure the fast holes knew where to go next!
- It was a gift to hear Valdez share with Band Camp during the warmup lap about F3 and the what it means to him. #wegottagoodthinggoing
- To the Q’s surprise, some pax actually grumble when called to do any sprint work! Who knew that a bunch of middle aged dudes on a cold and wet morning wouldn’t want to sprint! What could go wrong?
- Balco straight up said “I don’t sprint” and then proceeded to run laps at a pace faster than the Q can sprint.
- Pax quickly ditched the rotund Q, but could be seen pushing themselves throughout.
- Since the sprint ladder work didn’t get the heart rate up, there was a minor pax led #Omaha to do a 400. The Q let them, knowing we were heading to do one hill “fast running”
- Plunger tried to move pax to parking lot before we got our one hill run in, #typical
- Band Camp background: friend/co-worker of Valdez, also a veteran, and somehow Valdez knew he played trumpet in high school. Since “This One Time at Band Camp” is awesome, but a little wordy, and TOTABC doesn’t spell anything, we stuck with Band Camp. He’s a young buck in his 20’s, welcome!
Prayer Requests
- Blue Steel is settled in his new home, but it is a 2 story home, so continued prayers for safely navigating – great crowd to help him move Saturday!
- Rustbucket recovering from knee replacement surgery
The Fellowship F does make a difference! Had a chat with Blue Steel’s sister-in-law about the impact of all you jabroni’s who visited in the hospital, rehab center, and helped them move. We are a weird cult, but a fun one. Great reminder to YHC to reach out, even if you don’t know the pax that well. It’s only weird if you make it weird!
