Staying Dry and Saving Money @ TRQ

QIC: Turnover

Date: 2.6.20

PAX: Ziggy (WD) , Burlap , (Former FNG) Rev , Turnover (Q, WB)

With the weather report looking less than welcoming for a tour of the grounds at Speas Global, YHC had to come up with something that would provide an adequate test for the assembled PAX, but also (because I’m such a great guy) keep them dry.  A little recon trip with the 2.0’s the night before was just enough to develop the plan to bring the pain at TRQ. Even though there would be no “R’s” involved. When nobody else had showed up by 0526, YHC was moderately concerned that it would be a #SadClown beatdown.  Luckily, the HIMs rolled in shortly after, and YHC waited until the very last second to get out of his car and begin the festivities. Vamos.

Welcome to former FNG George Banks #Rev! EH’d by @Plunger (who was strangely absent….#fishy*) George is a pastor at Goler Memorial AME and is also the Development Director at Crisis Control Ministries.  George also played football at Wake in the early 90’s.  He said that he played QB when he first got there which led YHC’s mind directly to the American cinematic classic “Remember the Titans” where Jerry “Rev” Harris was the quarterback for Herman Boone’s undefeated TC Williams 1971 VA state championship team, and was also (at least depicted in the movie) the teams spiritual leader.  The combination of those two shared characteristics made the name “Rev” seem like a pretty good fit. Welcome Rev! Way to get after it, sir!

* It was great having @Rev out this morning.  Got EH’d by @Plunger, whose absence was not actually fishy. He was in Maine this week and reached out to me about Rev coming out.  Extremely impressive to have your first post be in a monsoon.  Rev held his own and got better today.  One day at a time, my man.  Well done.

The awnings at Speas provided just enough coverage to keep us out of the rain.  All things considered, YHC was pretty happy with how dry we stayed, and @Burlap even approved too. #MoralVictory

Since staying confined to the coverage of the overhangs was the only logical play, YHC wanted to set the mood with some of his favorite tunes. And if @Splash can get away with including “Time after time” in a beatdown mix, I knew I really had a lot of lee-way with my playlist. The PAX were treated to a variety of Hank Williams Jr., Travis Tritt, Jason Aldean, Merle Haggard, Eric Church, Confederate Railroad, and Fall Out Boy.  Some of YHC’s all-time faves.

In that same vain, the PAX were also treated to a bevy of Spotify ads.  As YHC and @Burlap are cut from a very similar – let’s call it “cost conscious” cloth – ya boy isn’t paying for Premium.

YHC was also very excited about @Burlap’s familiarity with most of the artists on the playlist.  Although the Q did not appreciate his insinuation that there was a correlation between my love for Confederate Railroad’s “Trashy Women” and the fact that I attended Appalachian State.  Don’t make me bring up September 21st, 2019, @Burlap.

@Ziggy put on a very Ziggy-like performance by putting his head down and busting out some serious work.  War Daddy on paper only.

Always an honor to lead the HIM of Winston Salem.  Thanks for the keys, @Boomerang.  I left them in the parking lot, but they probably floated away.

I realized I engaged in a stereotype with that comment but was willing to take that risk. My affection for that song dates back to a friend who was a UNC undergrad and Wake Masters student. So, “Trashy Side” has truly universal appeal. Could be said if any school. (But fits nicely with App!).

The bear crawl with Burpees sucked but I disliked the crab walks more. This was a good beatdown to test strength and even provided cardio without running. Well done.
