The Second Time’s a Charm

Introduction 

Due to extreme Q laziness, this was a repeat of a workout done back in January with one minor revision – we skipped the 41 burpees mid-way through the beatdown.  Spam and The H.O.G. were the only ones who got a second punch for their visitor card.  Burlap did not show.  Also, duly noted by the Spamtan, the weather was much more agreeable, making our ascent and descent of The Hill to Nowhere all that much safer.  See, we are adjusting all kinds of safety guidelines in these odd times in which we are now living.  One other difference, the Q so kindly allowed the PAX to select their own rocks.  Some of the rock choices were quite the opposite than the Q would have chosen for certain individuals.  Huh.

Warm-o-rama.

  • I think we did some warmup exercises, but you don’t really care.  That’s not what you’re here to read.

Beatdown.

There are 5 stations, each with a weighted exercise and a non-weigthed one on The Hill to Nowhere.  IF you have the rock, do Exercise A; ELSE, do Exercise B.

 

Each PAX was instructed to ascend the hill one station at a time and then return to the bottom.  Then move back up the hill stopping at each station.  On each lap up the hill, move the rock (and not anyone else’s) up one station.  For instance, on the third time up, the PAX would do HR Mike Tysons at the bottom (station 1), Lt. Dans at station 2, Rock Thrusters at station 3, and Overhead Press at station 4, then run back down to station 1.  After climbing the entire hill for the last time, bring the rock back down, stopping at each station.

 

Station One (Bottom): Manmakers x 10, Hand Release Mike Tysons x 10

Station Two (300 feet up): Rock Curls x 25, Lt. Dans x 10

Station Three (550 feet up): Rock Thrusters x 25, WMDs x 15

Station Four (750 feet up): Overhead Press x 25, Mountain Climbers x 50

Station Five (Top of Hill, 900 feet up): Rock Squats x 25

 

Lap 1:

  • Station 1 – Manmakers, Carry rock to Station 2
  • Station 2 – Rock Curls, Leave rock, run back to start

 

Lap 2:

  • Station 1 – Hand Release Mike Tysons, Run to Station 2
  • Station 2 – Rock Curls, Carry rock to Station 3
  • Station 3 – Rock Thrusters, Leave rock, run back to start

 

Lap 3:

  • Station 1 – Hand Release Mike Tysons, Run to Station 2
  • Station 2 – Lt. Dans, Run to Station 3
  • Station 3 – Rock Thrusters, Carry rock to Station 4
  • Station 4 – Overhead Press, Leave rock, run back to start

 

Lap 4:

  • Station 1 – Hand Release Mike Tysons, Run to Station 2
  • Station 2 – Lt. Dans, Run to Station 3
  • Station 3 – WMDs, Run to Station 4
  • Station 4 – Overhead Press, Carry rock to Station 5
  • Station 5 – Rock Squats, Leave rock, run back to start

 

Lap 5:

  • Station 1 – Hand Release Mike Tysons, Run to Station 2
  • Station 2 – Lt. Dans, Run to Station 3
  • Station 3 – WMDs, Run to Station 4
  • Station 4 – Mountain Climbers, Run to Station 5
  • Station 5 – Rock Squats. Carry rock to Station 4

 

Lap 6 (coming back down):

  • Station 4 – Overhead Press, Carry rock to Station 3
  • Station 3 – Rock Thrusters, Carry rock to Station 2
  • Station 2 – Rock Curls, Carry rock to Station 1
  • Station 1 – Manmakers.

 

** Some of the mountain men even finished the entire circuit (nobody did last time) and proceeded to restart the climb.  Although, I question whether they did one set or two sets of Manmakers when restarting.  Hmm.

THOUGHTS.

  • The Site Q took social distancing to extreme levels and stayed miles away from other PAX, perhaps even in his own bed.
  • Greenspan made a weak attempt at some negative mumble chatter early on, but it fell on deaf ears.
  • Completely serious comment … Many PAX commented on how much they enjoyed this workout.  I am as shocked as you, dear reader.  ‘Quarantine Brain’ must have set in as they were probably so desperate to do any type of physical activity outside that they sincerely complimented the Q.  #StrangeTimes.
  • Coffeteria/tailgate happened in the McDonald’s parking lot.  If you are just reading this, you missed out.
