Happy Half New Year

When YHC realized the date of my upcoming Mayhem Q, it seemed to be made for some sort of theme. As always, time slipped by and best I could conjure up was a half new year celebration. Hey – we’ve loved 2020 so much already, let’s celebrate the start of the second half.
Some limited thought was given and exercises were jotted on a weinke with hours to spare. Now if only some pax would show up to my party.
YHC was not disappointed when 7 other Mayhem regulars arrived to see what was in store. There had been a near mutiny the week before when Fender led a burpee and rock throwing madness. Upon Pony Express’ request that fit perfectly into my plan burpees were to be done in a very limited fashion.
We began with many of the warmorama standards. There was some discussion regarding Imperial Walkers vs Imperial Storm Troopers – my preference is Walking Storm Troopers. We moved through some fairly quick Abe Vigodas and Whirlies and ended with the DQ special Dry Dock Crabs. We made it to 7 before the pax began to grumble and really get out of sync.
On to the Thang – we moseyed up to the driveway which conveniently had 7 light posts. We would celebrate 7/1/20 by stopping at each light post and doing 1 burpee and 20 reps of an exercise. And there would be two rounds. In round one we ran all the way back to start before advancing to next light post. Round two we went straight thru.

At the end of the leg round we were blessed with a beautiful sunrise as we performed the MKs and ran back down the hill.
We then moseyed to the shelter for a couple of rounds of bench work that consisted of step ups, Bulgarian split squats, and feet of the bench crunches. One last exercise was impromptu and was going to be bench presses until YHC was informed the benches did not move. Not to be denied we did isometric bench presses. All seemed pleased.
We moseyed back to launch for some Mary that consisted of Freddie Mercs, Low Flutter, Mutton Crunches and a few seconds to plank to finish time.

There was not an overabundance of MC. Just a lot of hard work and counting to 20.
We did reminisce about HOGs rollover burpees. YHC had just experienced them Monday. Splash seemed to have a more nightmarish memory.
Wide variety of speeds but pax stayed together well (although not too close)
Turnover decided to go ahead and plank instead of Al Gore on the merkin round – “hey we’re gonna be down here soon enough anyway”
High Cotton left before Mary and did not run over any pax on his way out.
