IPC Week 1 Downtown Edition 9.2.2020

PAX: Wobegon, Sassy, Greenspan, Palin, Spicoli, Whirlpool, Root Canal, H.O.G., Turnover, Burns

Where: The Coal Pit outside Incendiary – YHC intended to use the grass at Bailey Park but it seems as though it rained overnight AND the city turned the sprinklers on. #splishsplash. Set up included WOD timer, music, weinke, and iPad for a large display timer. Let it be known here that Palin offered to help carry some of the materials.

What: Iron Pax Week 1

EMOM – 3 Burpees

In order – 50 Hand Release Release Merkins, 100 Leg Raises (Heels2Heaven), 150 Jungle Boi Jump Squats, 200 Big Boy Sit Ups (WWIIs), 250 Stationary Lunges

The Results:  Whirlpool finished in just over 26 mins. For those of you who haven’t met Whirlpool yet, the dude is a beast. Sassy finished in 46 mins which will be a more than competitive time and he absolutely crushed it at the end. I do not know where others finished or in what order, but everyone showed impressive resolve and determination, the sixes were picked up with many PAX continuing to EMOM, and there was some 2nd F as we caught our collective breaths.

*More about this playlist. It was intended to be a compilation of some of my favorite country rock artists, some of whom are more country and some of whom are more rock. Apparently Big & Rich are not as welcome in some PAX’s homes as they are in mine. I won tickets off the radio to see Big & Rich, Craig Morgan, Love and Theft, and some other no-name duo called Bomshel (I had to go back and look that one up in the archives) in 2010 and it was easily the most fun concert I have ever attended. Big & Rich put on a fantastic show and since then they have always held a high[er than they probably should] standing with me ever since. Fun fact, one of the two ladies in Bomshel went on to form a new duo called American Young that makes pretty good modern country (ish) music. Worth your time. Anyways, asides from this one controversial song, the playlist features a lot of Chris Stapleton, both his solo stuff and some songs he recorded as part of a rock band called The Jompson Brothers in 2015. If you have a long drive coming up, put on The Jompson Brothers album, you won’t be disappointed. I also included a couple of songs from one of my all-time favorites, Brothers Osborne, as well as a deep Skynyrd track and a few other upbeat modern country rock-ish songs. It kept the PAX moving this morning and it deserves your consideration as the best playlist to ever grace the ears of the DashPax. Turnover has given it his stamp of approval.

Some praises were shared in the CoT this morning. Turnover has been praying for a new job offer to come through since before Covid times and he recently got word that he will be switching jobs in October. Bigups to you, TO! Spicoli was thankful this morning for all of the efforts of the PAX during the Shmed this past weekend, and shared that he and his son were able to complete the 5000 rep challenge together and that it was a great bonding experience for the two of them to challenge their bodies together in that way. H.O.G.’s inlaws are expecting a child any day now, so that is certainly a praise for new life as well as a request for prayers for their family.

Strong work boys! As an aside, YHC has not heard of 95 percent of the songs or artists on this playlist. #themoreyouknow #alwayslearning
