Snow Drifts and Older Women
QIC: Greenspan
Date: 1/8/21
PAX: Zima, Post Hole, H.O.G., Lamb Chop, Greenspan
One or more of these things may have happened at Urban Assault this morning:
- Copious amounts of snow to navigate in and around
- Sledding down Pilot View & Forsyth
- Cross-country skiing around Bailey Park
- A security guard starring ominously at a group of men ranging from the ages of 29 and 43
- An ill-advised EC-run
- Excellent musical selection
- Lamb Chop recounting the coup of marrying a woman 12 years his elder
- A money’s worth beatdown
Warmarama:
SSHs, Abe Vigodas, Hammy Stretch, Arm Destroyers
Beatdown:
Mosey to the parking deck and partner up for Flora Dora, as described on the first piece of cardboard. Partner A does exercise, Partner B runs up two levels and then back down; flip flop. The exercises were:
- Burpees x 50
- Jungle Boi Squats x 100
- Squats x 150
- WW2s x 200
- Lunges x 150
- Jungle Boi Squats x 100
- Burpees x 50
Having sped through that portion, we turned to the second piece of cardboard. This solo EMOM portion required the pax to speed up half a level of the deck, back down, then work to a cumulative 21 of the following exercises:
- Burpees
- Cobra Crunch (DC)
- Low Dolly
- Lunges (DC)
- Dive Bombers
- Mountain Climbers
Mosey home and time.
Announcements:
- Seven-year anniversary beatdown is tomorrow, Saturday, 1/9/21. The same workout will be held at three locations at the same time to reduce the risk of spreading the virus: Speas Global School (home of Purgatory), Hanes Park (home of Impossible Situation), and River Oaks Community Church. Despite the workouts being the same, you can expect the celebration to be grander at Purgatory than anywhere else.
- Beverly is running 43 miles on January 16th for his 43rd birthday, and he is looking for people to run portions with him. He is raising money for HOPE. The plan is for the run to begin at 8 am and finish at 5. He promises to run “slow”.
- 2021 challenge is live. Goal is 20,210 merkins, WW2s, squats, + 10,105 burpees. There is a spreadsheet and channel on Slack.
CoT:
- Burns’s mother-in-law is having knee replacement surgery in Hickory this week.
- Bullwinkle had surgery Tuesday (1/5/21).
- Boomerang’s wife retired; his sister being treated for cancer.
Moleskin:
- It was awesome having Zima out. He’ll be a mutated monster when his leg heals as he was doing one-legged burpees. He might even give Huck a run for his money in time. He was not happy, however, that the workout did not include any merkins, per say, to add to his rep challenge total.
- Great to see Post Hole for the first time this year. He had a few snippy things to say about the two pieces of cardboard, and the initial decision to run up an entire level on the 21s, but otherwise was his expected pleasant self.
- The H.O.G. was all business and seemed perturbed that YHC and Lamb Chop were attempting to get some 2nd F in throughout our runs. Nevertheless, he dominated this morning.
- Lamb Chop is a great running partner, aside from him not enjoying the running and the dishonesty that pervades his conversations & counting.
YHC took us out, asking the SkyQ that we not be deceived about what is in our control or capacity and seek him instead for our help.
Missed you Cheesesteak. YHC left the keys on the security guard’s baton.
