The plan for this beatdown came together on Friday afternoon last week.  YHC felt that it would challenge whichever PAX decided to show up in what would likely be frigid temperatures the morning after the Super Bowl.  The preblast went out and YHC tried to give a disclaimer and let everyone know that this one might be tough and to rest up/not over-indulge on Super Bowl Sunday.

Well, as it happens, YHC has never been accused of being particularly bright.  After a long weekend of house work, I decided that I deserved to reward myself with a few beverages and some classic Super Bowl “Apps and ‘Zerts”. I’ll skip over the details, but let’s just say that YHC was…..less than 100% for this morning’s beatdown.

Regardless, there were men that needed to be led, beatdowns that needed to be dominated, and diems that needed to be carpe’d. OK, Lets go!

PAX would line up at the beginning of the field (nearest the school) and work their way toward YHC’s headlamp that was at the other end of the field

The method by which they got to the headlamp was as follows:

Step 1) Broad Jump

Step 2) Perform Burpee

Step 3) Perform 5 Merkins, 5 Squats, and 5 WW2’s.

Repeat that process until you reach the headlamp

By the Q’s estimation, all PAX got at least 30 Burpees and 160+ reps of each exercise in.

After all PAX had reached the headlamp, we moseyed over to the hill leading up to the track/playground.

PAX were instructed to bear crawl up the hill and bear crawl (not crawl bear) down the hill 5 times.

@Tigger came in hot this morning with jabs at YHC and my, admittedly very weak, speaker game. He barely waited for me to get out of my car (read: van) before he was giving me a hard time.

YHC told @Zima pre-launch that by the end of the morning, he may not be the only Q to ever spill merlot at their own beatdown. @Zima then stated he doesn’t think his should count because it technically wasn’t HIS beatdown……if it happens AT YOUR HOUSE bro..it’s your beatdown.

When we got to the bottom of the hill to begin the beatdown and YHC pointed out the barely visible headlamp way off in the distance, literally all of the PAX wondered out loud if we would even make it there by 6:15. As we saw above, these men were beasts, and we all got to the headlamp with plenty of time to spare.

The MC covered a wide range of topics this morning. Some PAX wondering why we didn’t have any music (which led to @Zima and @Tigger quickly reminding everyone that I’m #SpeakerChallenged), some light Super Bowl discussion, and the fact that Little Excavator and Little Blue Truck are huge hits in many of the assembled PAX’s households.  This also led to the confirmation that @Tigger is, in fact, illiterate. (I say “confirmation” and not “revelation” because…I mean…he did go to Bama, so at the very least we all expected it.)

@Green Acres…what else is there to say about this guy??? He RIRO’s to workouts all the time, he is an absolute beast with impeccable form, and he does it all with a smile on his face. This guy is legendary. Great work, sir!

@Wobegon, as is his custom, was a silent assassin today.  Which YHC appreciated because we were traversing across the length of the field next to each other, and it was all YHC could do to focus on not re-visiting my dinner from the night before. In that respect, had I been any closer to @Zima, the story of this beatdown may have ended much differently.

@Michael Bolton has definitely become an Iron Throne regular. He was putting in some strong work this morning and also letting YHC know when people were still working on their reps to ensure nobody got left at a particular station (sorry @Wobegon….#QFail)

@Zima has very clearly recovered from his surgery. It seems that he is very close if not 100% back to his pre-procedure beastliness. His MC game never missed a beat tho.

@Lois Lane has been fighting a hellacious schedule lately, so YHC was honored to have him post this morning.  It’s great to see him getting to be more of a regular, as he is an F3 natural. Strong work today, buddy.

@Tigger probably was the most concerned of all the PAX about if/how we would reach the headlamp, yet he was out front the entire morning. I think that’s called “sandbagging”. #HIM

We established, in a roundabout way, that @Michael Bolton was the WB this morning, edging out @Lois Lane by 9-10 months. Both are 29, but we needed to know for record-keeping purposes. It’s very important.  Perhaps YHC didn’t phrase the question correctly, but when I asked when each of them were born, they both responded with “1991”. Not inaccurate…also not helpful in determining who is younger/older.  This led to the story about how @BenjaminButton got his name: As an FNG, during Name o Rama, when the Q got to @BenjaminButton, instead of giving his hospital name, age, and “FNG”, he gave his name, the year he was born, and “FNG”. As he was born in ’85 (if memory serves me correctly), he looked a little young to actually be 85. Thus the name Benjamin Button.

We had an awesome group this morning with some great MC, great fellowship, and some great work put in by all. Thanks to all who posted. It’s always an honor to lead.

Thanks for the keys @Tigger, they are probably somewhere on that field. Would highly recommend a headlamp to help you find them.
