CSUAP Catch Up at Flatline

PAX: Lambchop (WB), Van Gogh, Bevo, Root Canal (WD), Drip, Cheesesteak, Cherry Pie, Turnover, Workbench, Huckleberry, Spicoli (Q)

Well YHC arrived onsite, thinking I’d be the first one there to get in a warm-up, since as Cherry Pie says “This is Flatline!  There is no warmup!”.  That is in the tenants and bylaws of this style workout; check with Legal if you have questions.

Not present @Zima would have been proud that I was both on-time AND early; but not there before @Lambchop who very likely slept in his car overnight.

Van Gogh was the next to arrive and within a few minutes the cars were rolling in.  YHC walked the parking lot to warm up but didn’t have much of a chance.  So with a muscle knot in my ole-a$$ calf and a not-well rehearsed F3 disclaimer, we got at it.

YHC got a head rush, planning to go to Corpening Plaza, but instead headed in the wrong direction.  YOU’D NEVER KNOW IT GIVEN MY EXCELLENT LEADERSHIP SKILLS!

After some buttkickers and SSH’s in a nearby parking lot, we diverted back to the intersection of 2nd and Cherry, did IW’s while waiting for light as cars passed by.  Totally normal thing everyone does while waiting to cross at 5:34am…

Moseyed to upper piazza above Corpening for Plankjacks and Peter Parkers and 5 Burpees.

We then moseyed to the lower Corpening Plaza:

  • Merkins, Squats, WW II: 10 each, increase by 10 each time round. 4 Rounds
  • Bear crawl to other end: Burpees x 10, Mosey back. Did not increase.  Always 10 burpees
  • This looked okay on paper. It was not as fun as planned

Wall work:

  • People’s Chair w Jack Reachers
  • Australian Mountain Climbers x12
  • Side Lunge-Squat-Side Lunge-Squat x10 (20 squats)
  • 10 Donkeykick Burpees: fun

Called for a 10 count from Cherry Pie.  Guy counted incredibly fast and said “THERE’S NO SUCH THING AS 10 COUNT AT FLATLINE!”  YHC tried again, knowing what was coming next, and asked Workbench who followed fast counting suit.  Oh well.

Mosey to the building exactly 65 feet away for Pillars of Progress:

***Van Gogh, likely knowing what I was thinking, given past Q’s said “You know, counting down is a form of progress.”  YHC saw the wisdom in this so instead of the normal counting up of burpees for each of the 9 columns we counted down.  Starting with 9 burpees, then 8, etc.  Mental exercise wise, this was a bit of a relief.

  • Burpees at each Column of the 9 columns: start at 9 and decrease at each column until you do 1 on the last column

Woseyed (walk mosey) for a few steps to gather the PAX and make way back to the AO starting spot.

Mosey to parking lot:

  • Station 1 (near where I parked): WW II’s x10
  • Mosey/Run/Sprint to Station 2 by wall at end of parking lot
  • Station 2: Jump Squats x 10
  • 2nd Round increase by 10

 

Broga/MOM done

  • YHC loosely led the PAX through a few sun salutations. @Cheesesteak is the expert on this stuff, but it felt decent to stretch out a little bit.

Announcement:

  1. May 15: Q-school at Alcatraz. Good for both old dogs and new Q’s to learn some simple In’s and Out’s of leading a workout.

  3. @Lambchop has Q tomorrow at the Premier Wednesday workout, #Conspiracy.
  4. Some guy named @ToeTag something something #Mayhem tomorrow. Seems sketchy.
  5. Sunday April 25: Turnberry Classic at Tanglewood. Huckleberry and Turnover have a CSAUP planned.  Details to follow

 

COT:

YHC explained that COT is the Circle of Trust and this is an opportunity for us to bring forth praises, concerns, prayers, or whatever is on our minds.**

  • Van Gogh gave praise that his sister gave birth recently to a health 9 pound baby. Good hardy Carlson stock.
  • Bevo asked for blessings and grace for those having babies or trying to have babies.

 

YHC ended up taking us out.  I asked for a moment of silence to center ourselves, bringing forth that which is on our mind, in our heart.

After the silence, YHC got a little broken up emotionally as something that was under the surface came forth: I am trying to be a peacekeeper between members of my family who are at an impasse.  It is difficult to see this and not be able to help.  I thanked the men of our group, for their accountability, for their friendship, and ask that they continue to be men of peace, strength, and confidence within their own families and our community.

 

Moleskin

  • Everyone got at it this AM.  YHC went into this workout knowing he’s behind on all exercises for the CSUAP Burns 2021 Challenge (20210 of each merkins, squats, WWII’s, 10105 burpees).
    • Final count YHC had for exercises: Burpees = 100, Merkins =100, Squats = 150 (sidelunge-squat snuck in 20 extra squats), WWII’s = 130
  • Lambchop and Cheesesteak were out ahead with the plaza effort, even though Cheesesteak complained about bear crawling across the piazza (it was a long way).
  • Cherry Pie has an undulation in his merkin form that shows he burns even more calories than the rest of us doing normal human merkins
  • Several PAX found holly leaves in the grass while doing WWII’s.  Bonus
  • Workbench was getting at it.  Strong work
  • Huckleberry dominated the burpee effort during Pillars of Progress.  Nothing slows that guy down.
  • Turnover and Bevo had on matching, performance enhancing leggings.  Not really but wouldn’t it be funny if they did?
    • Also Headbands improve exercise performance by 5%.
  • Root Canal doesn’t let up. He suggested bumping the exercises by 10 on the second round in the parking lot.  #Beast
  • Drip is far too happy to do all exercises.  #SuperNiceGuy
  • Fun fact: YHC’s Mosey speed is the same as VG’s ‘wosey’ speed.
