18 holes with the Nantan

QIC: Interference

Date: 8/12/2017

PAX: Root Canal, Thistle (WD), Cherry Pie, Candygram, Walter White, Tuco, Roosevelt, Geppetto (WB), Boo Boo, Lysol, Interference (QIC)

With the PGA championship in North Carolina this week, it seems a few Q’s have been inspired to do a golf theme.  YHC saw that Short Sale and Mongoose were both doing a golf theme, and felt bad for just a second about stealing that idea….but I got over it fast.  The lightning and thunder that woke YHC up in the middle of the night gave way to a steamy, sticky AM at the Muthaship.  As YHC rolled in, a few of the PAX were just finishing up a six-mile run.  And Walter White (slacker) had only run one “warm-up” mile.  (5:08, in case you were wondering).

Plank to hear the disclaimer and the plan:

18 holes – Start with an exercise (ie, a tee shot), then a matter of conveyance (ie, a walk down the fairway), then another exercise (approach shot), then another conveyance (walk to the green), then another exercise (ie, a putt).  Sometimes there was one more or one fewer exercise thrown in along the way to add in a few par 3’s and par 5’s.  It went down, very loosely, like this here.

1st hole:  SSH IC, mosey, IST IC, mosey, Whirlys (Whirlies) with a clap

2nd hole: Squats IC, mosey, Merkins IC, mosey, Running with Scissors IC

3rd hole: OH claps x 18 OYO at each corner around YMCA, with hallelujah run (arms in the air) in betweeen

4th hole: Down Glade View – Mike Tyson, Apollo Creeds, Rocky Balboa/ Fast Feet x  Apollo Creds, Mike Tyson  – see what I did there

5th hole: Carolina to Brookstown – Mutton Crunch R, Mosey, Mutton Crunch L, Mosey, LBCs

6th hole: Up Brookstown – Prisoner Run (hands behind back) with Mountain Climbers at each intersection

7th hole: Up 4 1/2 street backward (quadraphilia) with Squats at top and bottom

8th hole: Down Summit to Pilot View – Mosey with Plank Jacks at each block

9th hole: Down Pilot View – Mosey down with stops at each intersection to do 10, then 20, then 30, then 40 OH claps

——Make the turn at the base of Pilot View.  Partner up.  Wave to the Vig, who neither posted nor had Gatorade out for the pax

10th hole: Along West End toward Northwest: CDD, Mosey, Dips on the Benches, Mosey, CDD

11th hole: On baseball field:  Partner assisted WW2 situps, Partner Carry, then switch

12th hole: Russian Twists, Crab Walk, Russian Twist, Bear Crawl, Rusian Twist

13th hole: To track: Sprint the straightaways, Mosey along the curve.

14th hole: On infield: I made up something, can’t remember now

15h hole: Had to skip this one

16th hole: Had to skip this one, which is good because it would’ve sucked.

17th hole: A few Mary Exercises with Mosey in between

18th hole: A few more Mary Exercises with Mosey in Between

In all, we covered just under 3 miles.

CoT/Annc:

  • Ceremony for Root Canal’s father is today – a celebration of what sounds like a true #HIM.  Prayers for peace.
  • Candygram is headed overseas for 3 weeks with his reserve unit.  When Tuco asked where he was going, he simply said…”overseas”.
  • Shmedfest – Convergence at HP at 0700.  Shmedfest 4-10 at Triad Park in K-Vegas.
  • And if you’re reading this, you know that F3winstonsalem.com is up and running.  It will be used as the previous site was – for backblasts especially.   If you want to comment on how much you enjoyed this workout, the login is your login from the old website, but the password is password123!
  • Continue to use Twitter as you previously did, use the new website for backblasts, and we feel out the capabilities of Slack for putting small groups together.  This seems like a heckuva effort on the part of Van Gogh, Lysol, Mr. Hand and I’m sure other folks.  T-claps for pushing us through a tough transition.

NMM:

  • It was a really strong group that posted today – Cherry Pie, Walter White, the guys who ran 6 miles, a couple young bucks like Geppetto and Candygram.  YHC knew he would have to step it up to give these guys a good workout.
  • Great to formally meet Geppetto and Candygram.  Not sure if I’ve had the honor previously.
  • The rain started right as we got in our cars.  Normally, would’ve considered that good luck, but a little rain would’ve been kinda nice on a steamy day like this.
  • Despite my best efforts, there was still a lot of talking and laughing among the PAX even on the 14th hole.  This was a tough group to break.
  • Great way to start the day, guys.  Thanks for coming out!
