YHC has, in my humble opinion, the perfect WIB workout. It’s at the perfect WIB location (Thruway), it’s easy to followhas a reasonable number of excercises, a soft cap on reps, an acceptable mileage, and an unbeatable weinke – tough, yet doable, and I can reasonably deflect blame for any insatiable accumulation of reps on the dice or dice rollers.
The workout is simple – roll 7 dice. 2 colorful dice will tell you how many burpees to do. 5 black & white dice will tell you how many reps of the exercises on the weinke to knock out. Do the burpees, do the exercises, run a lap around the building, and repeato, adding the next exercise on the weinke.
We did a little WoR: SSH, Hillbilly, Michael Phelps all x10 IC
Then we began. This year’s weinke:
- Merkins
- Jump Squats
- Crunchy Frogs
- Mountain Climbers
- Diamond Merkins
- Bonnie Blairs
- American Hammers
- Alternating Shoulder Taps
The Rolls:
- 8/12 (0.54% chance)
- 9/18 (1.11% chance)
- 7/27 (ouch) (0.075% chance)
- 8/15 (1.16% chance)
- 2/14 (0.192% chance)
- 7/15 (1.40% chance)
- 5/13 (0.60% chance)
- 8/15 (1.16% chance)
Despite Van Gogh’s best efforts, round 8 still eludes the pax. Nobody has completed the whole weinke with the 8th lap in 45 minutes. Maybe next year.
The point of this backblast, though, is not to ruminate on the workout and what may or may not have happened. I’d like to take a few lines here to thank each and every one of you. This morning I was working out with 13 other men, but over the past 5 years I’ve worked out with hundreds of HIM, looking to accelerate themselves and others. I’ve had countless conversations with yall here in the dashpax – conversations about my life, my career, my family, and my faith, among other things – and it’s proved to me that it’s not just the workouts that make us stronger. If it hadn’t been for the exceptional efforts put forth by Bevo, Greenspan, Snooki, Fokker, Jar Jar, Chisel, and a handful of others at our church’s Christmas party, I never would have heard of F3. Bevo, Gelding (moved to Ohio), and I were in small group together, and they really laid on the EH thick after that party. After about a month of foot dragging, hemming and hawing, a few I dunnos and I’m not so sures, I told them I’d meet them at Urban Assault (wtf is that?). I had no idea on this day 5 years ago that I’d stumble into something that would alter my life in such a positive manner; on 1/12/2018 I walked up to a group of 20 men using funny words and giving a particularly short gentleman a hard time, and walked away from that morning having had the most fun of any time I could recall since moving to Winston Salem about 18 months prior (here’s the backblast from that workout). Since then, wordpress tells me that I’ve Qd over 130 workouts and posted to hundreds more…I’ve been the site Q at 2 different AOs, been asked to be the 1st F Q…but most importantly I’ve been empowered by all of you to be a leader in places other than F3. I could wax poetic for a few more stanzas, but the message wouldn’t be amplified any…I just want to simply say thank you.

Excellent beat down, Burns! YHC enjoyed playing the villain role and felt absolutely dead after arriving home. You are a true #HIM and I can’t imagine F3WS without your leadership, friendship, and dedication!
