Pre-Shmedfest Convergence
QIC: Winklevoss, Tuco, Burlap
Date: 08/26/2017
PAX: a boatload, at least 45, including former FNG Cornholio
Convergences — we don’t have them very often. And that is on purpose, as we want the small workout groups to thrive, to attract new guys, to serve the various neighborhoods near the AOs, and to serve the guys that come faithfully to that AO but maybe only once a week. We also want potential FNGs to use the F3Nation website and this website to come without personal invitation to the scheduled workouts. For these reasons, we hold large convergences only 2-3 times per year.
BUT, when we do hold a convergence, they are a LOT of FUN.
Today was an example of the some of the best elements of F3 — touching on all three Fs, bringing a wide variety of PAX out, initiating an FNG, lots of well-intentioned mumble chatter, and plenty of fellowship with food and drink afterward.
We won’t focus much on the workout itself, but for the record here are highlights:
- 85 minutes long with unified Warmorama and Mary
- In between were three stations — legs led by Winklevoss and involving the beloved, steep hill known as Pilot View; arms and chest led by Burlap with rests up the Intimidator; and abs led by Tuco with rests up Education Hill
- Winklevoss, knowing that he wouldn’t get any chest work during the workout, subjected the PAX to merkins in cadence to 20 (that’s 40 pushups). Runners arms?
- Pax learned during Warmorama that 72,000 residents of Forsyth County live at or below the poverty, representing 20% of the population
- Of those 72,000, children constitute 26,000
- Crisis Control served nearly 17,000 clients in 2016
- Pax were randomly directed to the three stations with examples of real life crises that could affect anyone including broken arm, loss of a car, or trying to get out of a domestic abuse situation
NMM
- @Spamalot somehow got lost during the Pilot View ascent (or refused to run up that last God-forsaken block) and ended up running down the Intimidator and joining the arms and chest guys; he handled the subsequent ribbing well
- YHC saw several guys circling back to pick up the Six on the Intimidator; T-claps to @VanGogh and @Splash among others.
- Pax seemed to enjoy jokes about the circle of planks with merks (or circle merk), and YHC had to endure (encourage?) juvenile comments from each of the three groups
- @Beverly some how ran in and out of the workout from 5 plus miles away — BRR- and marathon-ready
- Several guys simply killed it this morning with the monthly Murph before the workout commenced. Forgive if I leave someone out, but PROPS to @VanGogh, @ToeTag, @RustBucket, @RoadApple, @Zima and ???
- FNG @Cornholio was killing the pull-ups
- @JuiceBox decided not to simply drop off @CapriSon at the workout but stayed and went through the beatdown himself
- Several Pax had to leave early for other commitments, including @SourMash, @Mutton, and the Nantan himself, @Lysol
- @MrHand and @TheVig did NOT attend the convergence but waved hello as they ran by on West End Blvd at the end of their 18-mile run; {lightweights}
- Thanks to @Plunger and his daughter for providing post-workout food and beverage
- @RootCanal also brought some excellent home brew; as a non-drinker of beer, YHC can recommend @RootCanal’s beer
- @Toto showed up well after the workout with his 2.0, both on bikes.
COT
- As the #AOChallenge winds down, time to gear up for the next challenge: the #FNGChallenge. Look for pre-blast, but suffice to say, we challenge each other to invite and successfully bring new friends to F3 in the next month or so.
- Small party tonight
- Prayers for those affected by the hurricane in the gulf area and Texas
- Prayers for all first responders
- Prayers for back to school situations
- Praise and continued prayers for @Proehl
- Prayers for the ministry of Crisis Control
TWO FINAL THINGS
- Be thankful for this group of guys. And keep coming. There will be times when you don’t feel like being there and when you don’t ‘get’ much out of the fellowship. But even when you don’t feel like being there, it means something to the #GuyNextToYou. For more thoughts on this, ask @RootCanal in a private moment.
- T-Claps to @Plunger and his wife and family. They are leaders in word and especially deed. For at least 13 years, they have celebrated their birthdays not inwardly but by throwing a party and raising both funds and awareness for Crisis Control. So, give generously to your neighbor via Crisis Control.
Peace,
Burlap

The 3 headed Q brought it this morning. Thanks for planning a solid and meaniful beatdown.
Tclaps and Happy Birrhday Plunger!
Spamalot
YHC still does not believe we were supposed to run all the way up Pilot View…who does that??!!?!? Great job by the trio of Qs yesterday!!

What a beautiful way to get credit for posting. Just 5 mins in the parking lot to say hello and you get to see your name in bb!
Tuco
Great morning.
Fatigue and fermented grape juice oozing out of my pores made third round a bit hazy. I think we did something. Should have followed Toto’s olan.
Solid plan Burlap. Thanks for inclusion.
Plunger
Wow! Burlap, Tuco and Wink what an outstanding convergence and start to the day. This was one of the best planned and executed convergences I have ever attended with a wonderful theme focused on all fitness areas and an amazing ability to cycle through to workout with different guys. The mumble chatter was especially high in a great way. YHC is humbled by the patience in hearing all of the chatter throughout the year for Shmedfest and even more humbled and proud of the support. Amazing. Appreciate this group of men and what this F3 thing stands for! SYITG.

Great Q’s! Great theme! Hats off to #Burlap for pulling Q’s together and organizing #Leadership
Schmedfest takes its ribbing all year, then delivers a #Boom!
Always a Wonderful sight to see 45+ PAX circled up for warm-o-Rama!
Van Gogh
Well done, gentleman! Great use of the AO, lots of pain and suffering to go round! Though I think the Q’s might have had it worse than the PAX, having to do each station 3 times over…. ouch!
Van Gogh
PS – @RootCanal was our 6th Birthday Murphday participant! #TClaps!
Burlap
Great! Thanks for filling in that blank. #Respect

Great time and a great beatdown!
Love a #convergence!
Well done Qs!

Great job by all 3 Q’s! I was in Tuco’s 3rd session and he was calling strong cadence as he drifted in and out of consciousness. Haha! Was neat to be WD in such a big Pax. My first Shmedfest but won’t be the last. Happy belated birthday to Plunger! Good workout!
