Back in my college days in the late 80s, we hardly ever ventured out downtown.  Truth be told, it was pretty sketchy and downright scary place to be.  As @LambChop mentioned (although we were talking about times even before he was born), downtown was all about hookers and drugs back then.

Remind me to tell you sometime about the time YHC got the wise idea to try to walk/run/jog/stumble back to campus after an evening out at the Orchestra Pit, which at the time was about the only place serving adult beverages in downtown Winston-Salem.  As 10 pax found out this morning, little ol’ Winston-Salem has come a long way in the last 35 years in the downtown entertainment department.

Lots and lots of mumblechatter, but YHC missed most of it while trying to concentrate and navigate.

As mentioned previously, we missed Single Brothers which was on the planned tour and also didn’t hit bar pina or Earl’s or Roar or Euphoria or Bamboo Lounge and quite possibly several others.  #MaybeNextTime

We didn’t see any hookers.  We didn’t witness any drug transactions.  #RoughStreetsNoMore

Great to see @DrDecay out again for his second post after having been an #FNG at #Flatline this week.

@Spicoli and @ZiggyStardust may have lingered at a couple of stops drinking leftovers from last night.  #Thirsty

Learned some stories from @Frostbite and his shenanigans at Wake that YHC hadn’t previously heard.  He obviously took advantage of downtown Winston-Salem’s revival and development during his 4 years at Wake.  #DontAskDontTell

Still trying to swing @Bevo over to the right side of the Red River for tomorrow’s Rivalry game.  He claims to be neutral, much to @ThePonyExpress’ and YHC’s chagrin.  #BoomerSooner

Tclaps to @PostHole for his 8 year run as Site Q for Urban Assault which is finally coming to an end.  Double Site Q swap next Friday as @RubberDucky takes the reins at #TheIronThrone so that @Schlitz can take over #UrbanAssault.

It was suggested that we try this pub crawl as a 2nd F event sometime.  #PaceYourself.
