Today is Not That Day
QIC: Green Acres and Drama Queen
Date: 12/30/2023
PAX: Pony Express, Bruin, Subfloor, Boomerang, Rubber Ducky, Zima, Van Gogh, Green Acres, Drano, Draftee, Bullwinkle, Madoff, Cruiser, Bootlegger, Undertow, Spicoli, Lamb Chop, Drip, Crash, Drama Queen
Van Gogh sent out a Q signal for Alcatraz to some of the double respects of the Dash to see if any would be willing to close out the year by being a Q who looked like the Father Time cartoon images of 2023. While we were unable to convince Zima to dress up as Baby New Year, Green Acres and YHC charged our pacemakers, slipped in our orthotics, loaded up on Advil and told the Alcatraz warden we would bring the pain to end the year.
When YHC arrived for a little recon of the back, there were several completing the Murph from SuperMax. Not sure of the exact number but Green Acres was one – double down for that double respect. Van Gogh, Rubber Ducky, Bullwinkle were among the others – report if I missed anyone.
The converging pax began to roll in and it was a fine crowd representing all corners of the Dash. At 7:00 (please note this time as it will be mentioned later) Green Acres led us off with several Warmorama standards. We can always count on a double respect for Abe Vigodas, and it appears one thing 2023 will be known for is the evolving name change of Arm Swirly Things to Cherry Pies. WeFoCo may hold out for ASTs but always good to honor a Dash Pax with an exercise name.
We then moved all the way to the Rodney (?) stoppers (a Green Acres original aka parking lot curbs) and performed another Green Acres original – Merkin Madness – begin with 10 merkins then bear crawl across lot and go down 1 merkin at each turn til reaching 1. That was followed by Lunge Lunacy which followed the same pattern with lunges as the mode of transport and squat jumps at the turns. This allowed for many comments from the pax about how much they respected their elders.
Next was a slightly longer mosey over to the benches and wall in front of the church where we performed multiple rounds of derkins, dips, irkins and maybe something else.
Time to turn it over to YHC. And to prove that there would be some running in the workout we moseyed to the back and acquired blocks. Instructions were to partner up with someone who had an equal sized block. Then instructions got a little murky. P1 ran to end of drive at the gate while P2 curled block. Upon return flapjack. Next round got started before Q realized and we all got back on same page with P1 overhead pressing while P2 ran up hill and 3 jump squats at frisbee golf marker. Return and flapjack.
Round 3 was skull crushers and run to pull up bars for 3 pull ups. Round 4 was squats with block and run to back of church for 3 Mike Tysons.
Upon completion (or at least Q thought all were done) we began a Catch Me If You Can. P1 began walking while farmer carrying blocks. P2 did 3 burpees then ran to catch P1. Flapjack at that point and goal was to go all the way around the church. Upon looking back to see who was behind, YHC realized Green Acres and Bruin were just returning from Mike Tyson station and Subfloor was waiting on one or both to join him for CMIYC. YHC went back and the 4 of us journeyed around the church in some modified fashion. Thanks to Van Gogh, Zima and Crash for coming to check on us. As for the rest of the pax…
YHC chastised them for sitting on their blocks looking like they were ready to sing Kumbaya. We’re working out here. Either pick up the six or plank or do something!
For that we ran a suicide and there would have been more had we had time. But we had other things to do.
On to the parking spaces for a DQ standard – Sumo Drill. There were some classic matchups with Rubber Ducky vs Van Gogh appearing to be the main event.
We finished with some Mary standards including a request for the Big T from Pony in honor of his Longhorns in their upcoming matchup with the Huskies.
Done.

A lot has already been covered but what YHC believes was a record was set at about this point in the morning. Spicoli, thinking we started at 8:00 or 7:30 or sometime other than 7:00, strolled up to join us just in time for COT. He took it all in stride, did a few burpees and joined us in the big circle.
Good to see Cash out if only to pick up his shirt from VG. He has some ongoing medical things so keep him in prayers
As mentioned it was a good convergence of pax from all over the Dash. Three Saturday workouts has spread us a little but good to see some old and new faces
Music raised a few comments – it was courtesy of Frank Sinatra radio on Spotify. Hope all enjoyed some of the classics

COT
Several lifted up – aging parents, Elaine and Lib (hope I got those names right) friends/family of Undertow and Green Acres who are recovering from medical issues. All those at this time of year dealing with depression, addiction or other issues that holidays can compound. YHC closed us reminding us that our time is precious here with a saying I learned posting once in Greenville SC. There will come a day when I am not able to be out here … but today is not that day.
Thanks to my Co-Q Green Acres
Always an honor

Green Acres
Was hoping that would be the title…perfect! Other EC action was Drano’s 5 miler before Alcatraz. Also doing the Murph were Zima (with a weight vest! 😳), Draftee, and Cruiser. 👏 YHC enjoyed being a Father Time co-Q. Great job with your half of the beatdown and this backblast DQ! 🤩 And Zima is a tough Sumo wrestling partner but also coached so we had a good match! ❤️
Rubber Ducky
Great Beatdown DQ and Green Acres. Van Gough is pretty tough but we missed Work Bench. Last time he walked me wherever he wanted.
