Yesterday I sent out the following pre-blast, and 5 others showed up in the gloom to take the challenge head-on:
Hello, friends. It’s me, an official WIB pre-blast posted on the website. I know, I know, it’s been a long time since you’ve seen me. And I haven’t been great at communicating my whereabouts. You still remember me, right? I guess…wow…some of you may not even know that I exist. I was once a reliable and friendly Wednesday afternoon invitation to join up for fitness, fellowship, and faith at a location of my Q’s choosing. Now, I’m just a oft-forgotten memory. I heard I’ve been replaced by a younger and more beautiful (but less eloquent) preblast on a communication technology called Slack. Please…please…if you’ll have me. Take me back. I still love you.
WoR: Gather in Reynolda Village by the Barn / Barre studio. Get there early and stretch yourselves. We’ll do some SSHs and Michael Phelps and then roll out.
The Thang: Mosey through the gate to the first upper lot on the entrance road. Find the weinke. Do the weinke. Mosey to the entrance gate. Find the weinke. Do the weinke. Mosey back and forth between weinkes until appx. 0613.
The Twist: In between weinkes are 5 cones. At each cone do 2 burpees.
We did exactly as prescribed above.
The first weinke had 5 WMDs, 10 Lunges (dc), 15 Diamond Merkins, 20 Jump Squats, and 25 Merkins
The second weinke had 15 each of American Hammers, Heels to Heaven, Muttons L, Crunchy Frogs, Muttons R.
We did three full rounds, with a couple of pax beginning their fourth trip as time was called to head back to launch. North of 3 miles, lots of reps, tons of great times. Drip was smiling the whole time. Rollback was leading the way. Dr. Toot was moving with the energy of a new grandpa. Mutton was lamenting the lack of consistent use of Reynolda Village. And Manscape didn’t say a word while dominating the beatdown.
YHC has Urban Assault tomorrow – we’ll run beforehand, too – 0455 launch for the 5k.
Rollback is celebrating 15 years of marriage today, big ups!
