Date: 1.10.25

PAX: Rubber Ducky (EC), Schlitz (EC), Frostbite (snoozed the EC), Drip, Spicoli, Lucky Charms, Tami, Tarheel, $5 Footlong, Frank & Beans, Lamb Chop, Burns (QIC)

Cold again. Ho hum. Didn’t stop a bunch of studs from shunning the fartsack and getting better today. What a bunch of HIM.

Rubber Ducky let me talk him into the EC run, and Schlitz joined us. 2 miles for a warm-up is sure helpful when the wind chill is in the teens. As you can imagine, the 2nd F was elite.

We allowed gravity to bring us down 4th St back to Bailey Park in time to meet the other pax (minus one) at the launch spot. Fist bumps, good mornings, how do ya dos, and shivers were exchanged by all, and we got rolling promptly at 0530. Core principles, check. Mission statement, check. 15 SSH in cadence, check. Then ISTs, Toy Soldiers, Seal Claps, and OH claps all IC before YHC needed to make a run for it, as my exposed ankles were getting cold.

Pax moseyed to the infamous intersection of Chestnut and Sixth st. It’s @Greenspan’s favorite place in town. Three fairly daunting hills extend to the north, east, and west while the tauntingly flat return path to Bailey Park counted us as fools for not traversing it for the next 40 minutes. This “pit” would be the home base to which we would continually return. Starting here, pax were instructed to perform one (1) Star Jump Burpee, which I flawlessly demonstrated per @Frostbite’s request. Then we ran eastward up 6th St across the railroad tracks to the entrance of RJR’s employee lot where we did 15 Irkins and 15 Dips on the guardrails. Back to the pit for two (2) Star Jump Burpees, then up our 2nd hill to the intersection of Chestnut & 7th for 15 Jump Squats and 15 Side-to-side Lunges. Down to the pit, three (3) Star Jump Burpees, then up the 3rd and final hill to the intersection of 6th & Patterson for 15 WWIIs and 15 American Hammers. This pattern continued all the way up to ten (10) Star Jump Burpees, repeating the exercises at the top of the hills while increasing by one burpee each time, and then we took the aforementioned flat route southward home to the launch. 3 minutes remained for Mary, so we did some Low Flutters, Freddie Mercs, Alabama Prom Dates, and Pickle Pounders all x15ic. Everyone loved it.

Spicoli did his due diligence and shot me a text that he was running behind, and I unfortunately didn’t see it before we launched…he ran around downtown and found us as we were on the 8th round.  Tarheel, Schlitz, and Lamb Chop all ate their wheaties before showing up this morning. Wowza those guys were flying. I enjoyed holding the middle with the rest of the team. Drip & I both concurred that yesterday was way worse both in terms of the beatdown and the wind chill. Heard some good 2nd F going on between Frosty & Tami – and Tami is on Slack now as a result! That’s how it’s done! Ducky, $5, and F&B were a force to be reckoned with today…those hills had nothin on you gentlemen. Lucky Charms was full of encouragement each time up & down the hills – great dude right there. This morning was exactly what keeps dudes coming back out to our group. Challenging, communal, invigorating, tiring, uplifting, and just worth it. Spicoli said it best…I wouldn’t do stupid things downtown on my own for any reason at all, but it’s the collective that gets us to throw off the covers, layer up, and embrace the suck. Cheers to that!!!

Keep an eye on Slack re: any weather changes for the weekend. Mutton has IS tomorrow and will be voluntelling Qs for the rest of the Spring – sign up for one before you get signed up for one. He also is looking for a new site Q – step up and lead! Same goes for all other AOs…take a look at the calendar and find an empty slot and sign up for it! Another leadership opportunity, F3WS is looking for a CommzQ to run outward facing social medias. Talk to VG or Frostbite about their vision, this would be an incredibly minor commitment but valuable to our group! GreeNest needs helpers for Sat 1/18. Lastly, Greenspan still needs 2 more for Samaritan Ministries on 1/20 (MLK Day).
